This is a MANDATED auction, which means that GIBBO thinks all the calls are absolutely perfect.

Not surprisingly, GIBBO is wrong...because GIBBO has NO IDEA how to bid.

North's 2S is a decided underbid, because in support of pard's spades, his hand is worth about EIGHTEEN (!) "total" points. Of course, GIBBO has proven time and time again that it knows NOTHING about "total" points. The massive stupidity of GIBBO goes well beyond "just" knowing nothing about total points, though, as you will soon see. Here's a clue: North's current 2S call is not "just" an underbid. It is also PASSABLE. It could conceivably END the auction.

But...it DOESN'T end it, because EAST bids 3H. South and West pass.

Back to North, the guy who last bid a PASSABLE 2S. He now, in passout seat, doubles, defined by GIB as "3+ clubs; 2+ hearts; 4 spades; 11+ HCP; 12-16 total points".

East passes. South, who now HAS to bid, makes the weakest bid he could possibly make at this point: 3S.

West passes, and...North RAISES TO FOUR SPADES! He previously bid a PASSABLE 2S. THEN he doubled for takeout the enemy 3H bid. THEN...when his partner South made the WEAKEST CALL POSSIBLE, North, the SAME player who was earlier QUITE content to have the auction END in TWO spades (the PASSABLE bid that he made). later FORCED his partner to bid at the three level, and then RAISED him to the four level when he (South) showed NOTHING extra.

It's not just the awesome STUPIDITY of these hopeless rejects that is astounding - it's also the COMPLETE lack of consistency. They are nothing but garbage of the worst sort.

Our result was fine (89.37 %), but that does not justify North's ridiculous pass of 1S. His pass serves only to tell the world that he should be spending his time on any activity EXCEPT bridge, because he has no idea how to play bridge.

Look at East's hand. Note that he...PASSES (!) in fourth (passout) seat after South opens 1NT and West and North pass.

Mandated auction.

Typically wretched "defence". Why are these GIBBO zombies playing DIAMONDS?

Shared top for NS. Well-deserved shared bottom for Frick and Frack.

A TRUE CLASSIC:

This is a MANDATED AUCTION, which means that it is an auction RECOMMENDED BY GIBBO. GIBBO thinks THIS auction is absolutely PERFECT in every way!

North's 4NT is TO PLAY. He wants to END the auction in 4NT...yet for some UNKNOWN reason, South bids 5D. This 5D call is defined by the always pathetic GIB as "5+ clubs, 6+ diamonds, 3- hearts, 9 total points". He actually has a...STIFF (!) 8 of diamonds. He is supposedly promising at LEAST ...SIX (!) diamonds and possibly MORE...and he actually has ONE!

North raises to SIX diamonds...and South is THRILLED to pass. The final NS contract is...SIX DIAMONDS! Their trump "fit" for this "slightly" (ha, ha!) "optimistic"...SLAM (!!!) is: STIFF (!) EIGHT (!) in "declarer" South's hand, opposite AK63 in dummy North. Their combined "trump" suit is missing EIGHT cards to the QJ1097542. Somehow, I think NS have failed to follow Burn's Law!

Yet GIBBO...RECOMMENDS (!) this auction and MANDATES it!

You know, I think GIBBO has to go back to...BIDDING SCHOOL...at the PRE-KINDERGARTEN level...and STAY there for approximately the next 477 years!

Typically laughable and hopeless "defence" by the GIBBO pair of Johnny Halfwit in the West and Donald J. Dumbo (the one wearing the makeup) in the East:

I realize that many human players, including some good ones, would bid North's hand the same way that the GIBBO robot did, but my opinion is that Stayman would be a better choice, and that the entire Stayman philosophy and structure used by GIBBO (and probably also by many of the aforementioned human players) is not optimal.

Regardless of layout, regardless of result, East's lead is typically stupid. Why do these GIBBO losers LOVE to lead enemy suits? The brainless twit got what he deserved for his imbecilic lead.

Both GIBBO robot "defenders" pitch hearts - BOTH! The result of this BRILLIANT "partnership" discarding is that declarer takes an "impossible" FOUR (!) heart tricks with AK53 in his hand opposite 842 in dummy!

MORAL: NOTHING is impossible when you play against Frick and Frack!

I got a poor score here for only making ten tricks. Among other things, I was fooled by West's lead, since it seemed the only reason he would have for making that particular lead would be if it was a singleton. There are many very amusing things in this hand, so...let's start the...bashing.

I realize that many (in fact, almost certainly most, humans - including many excellent players) would open the North hand 1C, just as the GIBBO robot did, but I prefer a 1D opener to avoid rebid problems. Disagree if you wish, no problem, but I'm sticking to my guns on this one. One random hand never proves anything, but note that on THIS random hand North "had to" bid 1NT over my 1H once he had opened 1C. Clearly that is not ideal, since he has a "suit" type hand with his 5-4 in the minors, and with two little spades he might easily be wrongsiding the hand. His only alternative call would be 2C over my 1H, but that should really show at least six clubs. Note that if he had opened one diamond, he would have an easy, convenient 2C rebid over my 1H...and it would actually show what he HAD (clubs and diamonds)!

I didn't have to make a "prepared" bid with MY two-suiter because it was so strong that I would be able to reverse and show my suit lengths accurately. Thus I bid a normal and "honest" 1H, "honest" in that it was indeed my longest suit. North, as discussed above, was now forced (having opened an unprepared one CLUB) to rebid either an unattractive 1NT or a misleading 2C, since he was not strong enough to reverse. He opted for 1NT, the better of his two unappealing choices.

I of course now bid 2S, a game force showing longer hearts than spades, and at least 5 hearts and 4 spades.

North, who I guess we can now start calling Johnny Halfwit, now made a BAD bid with a typically PATHETIC GIB definition: 3D. Is the imbecile belatedly (and comically!) deciding to show his diamond suit? I guess so, but WHY? He knows that I have at least nine major-suit cards, so we will NEVER be playing in diamonds unless I have diamonds, and if I...DO have four diamonds, I will BID them over his 2NT call...which is the call he SHOULD be making now instead of his fatuous 3D! With his 65 doubleton in spades and his 62 doubleton in hearts, he has no fit for either of my majors, he has a flattish 2-2-4-5 shape, a minimum (given that he opened the bidding) 12- count, the unbid suit (diamonds) well-stopped and clubs well-stopped. From his perspective at this point in the auction, no trump seems like the likely destination, so he should CLEARLY bid 2NT and not his imbecilic 3D!

His 3D call is typically stupid, but it PALES in comparison to the mind-bogglingly pathetic and USELESS piece of trash that is the GIB definition of 3D: "3-5 clubs; 2-4 diamonds; 2 hearts; 2-3 spades; 12-14 HCP; forcing to 3NT." This piece of junk tells us NOTHING that we did not ALREADY know. And if he could have as few as two diamonds like the definition says, why the HELL is he bidding three...DIAMONDS? In fact, given the way the definition ITSELF describes his hand here, why the HELL is he bidding ANYTHING other than 2NT? GIB and GIBBO stink in every way possible.

Anyway, over Halfwit's ludicrous 3D, I make the normal 3S bid, which now confirms that I have at least SIX (not "just" five) hearts, at least FIVE (not "just" four) spades, and obviously a very good hand, since I reversed. That's what a GOOD definition would say, so of COURSE it's NOT what the GIB definition says. IT says:

"5+ hearts". NO, GIB, NOT "5+", but SIX PLUS!

"12+ HCP". Yeah, okay (sort of) but the bid shows a GOOD hand, not just some RANDOM 12-count! The definition should make that clear.

"Rebiddable spades". Well...DUH...YEAH...I guess they're "rebiddable", Mr. GIB, Mr. Worst Definitions of All Time, since I...JUST REBID THEM! Instead of making such a typically USELESS and VAGUE statement, Mr. GIB, how about explaining to the world what you MEAN by "rebiddable", particularly in this context? How about saying EXACTLY WHAT I SAID ABOVE: That this sequence shows at least 6 hearts and at least 5 spades! In other words, how about for ONCE saying something USEFUL and ACCURATE in your stinking definitions???!!!

Over my 3S, Johnny Halfwit bid 4H. His bid was fine, but as we would expect, the GIB definition for it was useless, basically saying exactly what the equally useless definition of 3D had said earlier.

With my VERY good hand, a slam could EASILY have been cold, but Blackwood wouldn't help me, since I had a club void and two little diamonds. If pard had the "wrong" ace (clubs), it wouldn't do me much good. So, how can I investigate? Simple: I can bid 4S, obviously cuebidding my cheapest control. It's "obvious" because I've already shown my hand, and pard has made his preference (!) between my two suits, so I CANNOT be "correcting" 4H to 4S for play! Over my 4S cuebid, maybe pard will be able to show a DIAMOND control. But...I check the GIB definition of 4S and discover that it is typically RANCID! The unbelievably ridiculous GIB definition of 4S is "6+ hearts; 6+ spades;12+ HCP; 13-16 total points". I don't have the patience to fully and completely eviscerate this filth, so let's JUST look at the bit about "13-16 total points". GIB, as we know, lacks even a BASIC understanding of |total" points at the best of times, but from WHERE, pray tell, did they MAGICALLY pull the figures "13-16", and IF I actually HAD this MAGICAL, SPECIFIC range of points that they pulled out of thin air, WHY would I be bidding 4S? SURELY there should actually be a REASON to bid 4S here, but of course to EVER expect logic from GIB or GIBBO is as impossible a dream as having your laundry detergent suddenly morph into valuable emeralds. GIB/GIBBO is the absolute WORST!

Anyway, I passed 4H, since there was NO intelligent way to investigate in the unworkable JOKE that is the GIBBO system.

West, on THIS auction, then made the INSANE lead of the spade (!) queen from Q10 doubleton. Insane though it was, it was actually VERY successful for him, because despite my extreme and eternal CONTEMPT for GIBBO robots, I didn't think even THEY would make such a lead unless it was a singleton. Ha ha, the laugh was on me, but as with just about EVERY hand I play with and against these GIBBO jackasses, my contempt for them became even greater.

Fairly flat board: 53.6 % for NS, 46.4 % for EW, but just LOOK at West's hand, and gasp in AWE (or, actually in LAUGHTER and DISGUST) at his utterly ridiculous 1NT (!) call over my 1H. It's also astonishing that he didn't double 2H. Then again, perhaps it's NOT astonishing, since these clowns probably prefer to double contracts only when they MAKE.

The auction is mandated by GIBBO. That means two things:

One: GIBBO recommends every single bid here and considers the bidding of all four players to be absolutely impeccable.

Two: The very fact that GIBBO recommends these bids is a strong clue that at least some will be ridiculous, because GIBBO is an atrocious bidder playing an antiquated, hopeless joke of a system.

East's 2NT: It's defined as "Artificial force - 15+ HCP; 16- total points". The definition, pathetic as always, makes clear once more that GIB has no idea whatsoever about "total" points, but the main issue is that...East does not HAVE "15+ total points". He has ONLY (!) ELEVEN! That means that he is ignoring his own GIB definition AND he is deceiving his (supposed!) "partner" West. Furthermore, his 2NT LIE is a big one: He has a full FOUR fewer HCP than the MINIMUM (of 15) that he is "promising". Why is the maggot bidding ANYTHING anyway, given that West's 2S was a WEAK jump overcall showing a maximum of 9 HCP?

South's 4H: Another LIE! The definition promises "12+ HCP". He has a mere EIGHT. Besides which, if he CHOOSES TO bid over East's 2NT, surely 3C would be safer, more descriptive, more logical, and more honest than his unilateral, ill-judged solo flight to 4H. Hopeless system, hopeless definitions, hopeless robots.
