Imbecile that he is, the GIBBO robot sitting East LEAPS to FOUR hearts...with his MINIMUM opener. Even worse, this ludicrous overbid appears to be recommended by GIBBO, since the GIB definition of 4H is "4+ clubs; 4+ hearts; 2- spades; 11+ HCP; 12-14 total points".

No wonder the GIBBO robots are such atrocious bidders, when they're handicapped by their hopeless system and their ridiculous GIB definitions. There's an old saying that "a bad carpenter blames his tools". Well, in BRIDGE, the GIBBO robots are indeed STRIKINGLY "bad carpenters", but I wouldn't blame them at ALL for "blaming their tools", because their "tools" really DESERVE to be blamed!

The GIBBO robots sitting East-West have four TOP tricks. They manage to take...TWO of them. They have absolutely no IDEA of how to defend. They are hopeless.

West steps out of line with his vulnerable 3C call. West goes for 1100. West gets a shared bottom. West is a GIBBO robot, so...West will probably CONTINUE bidding EXACTLY like this, because - how shall I phrase this (?) - GIBBO robots are not exactly known for LEARNING from their MASSIVE numbers of boneheaded errors.

Stupid 3S bid by East leads to another typically disastrous result for the GIBBO clowns - oops, sorry, I mean the GIBBO robots.

The GIBBO robot in the West has an obvious diamond lead staring him in the face, so of course he leads a ...HEART and continues HEARTS. Was the declarer gracious enough to THANK West for REMOVING the heart guess?

Yes, I was. I thanked him profusely, because as I have always said, the GIBBO robots are astonishingly bad bridge players, but they are very kind and generous...ALWAYS doing their best to help their OPPONENTS. Such generosity deserves praise.

The GIBBO robots play inverted minors, and as we would expect, they play this treatment in the worst possible way. I don't have the 14 hours it would take to describe ALL the ways they make a mockery of the system, but here's just a tiny glimpse.

North's 3D is defined as "Weak...". If A72, 1095, J9832, A8 is considered "weak" opposite a 1D opener, it tells you all you need to know about GIBBO "judgment"!

NINE pretty good HCP. Two ACES. Five TRUMPS. A hand that any way you slice it is worth at least 10 "total" points in support of diamonds. But of course the pathetic, antiquated GIBBO system is based more on thoughtless, robotic, bean counting than on logic.

I have some sympathy for West here, because he doesn't have any attractive lead, but I still don't think his choice of the club queen is wise. I probably would have led a trump - even though I am someone who hates leading trump.

Stupid 2H bid by East on his FOUR-bagger. GIB definitions are often garbage, but EVEN the GIB definition says that the bid shows "5+ hearts". Once again the GIBBO robot ignores his own GIB definition.

East PASSES in THIRD seat (AND ever after!) with AKJ10764, Q6, 85, 42! I thought this was 2026, but the GIBBO robots seem to think it's NINETEEN FIFTY-SIX!

The story here is the one hundred percent useless GIB definition of South's double: "2-5 clubs; 2-5 diamonds; 2-5 hearts; 2-5 spades; 15-17 HCP; 18- total points". This repeats exactly, word for word (!), all the SAME information as the definition of South's 1NT opening bid. The only difference is that it does not repeat the annoying, TOTALLY useless words that disgustingly and needlessly began the 1NT definition: "No trump opener. Could have five of a major". No KIDDING, GIB? You mean when he opens 1NT it's a no trump opener? Wow! Who would EVER have guessed? And saying that he could have five of a major IS useful - except that it later says "2-5 hearts; 2-5 spades", which points that out ANYWAY, so the statement is redundant.

So, the definition of 1NT is accurate but poorly worded due to the onsense at the beginning, and the definition of double says NOTHING new. You know, GIB, maybe it would have been a BETTER definition of the double if it stated...WHAT THE DOUBLE WAS INTENDED TO BE! Is it penalty? Takeout? WHAT? Would it be SO hard...in a DEFINITION...to actually...uhh...DEFINE (!!!) the meaning? Maybe if THAT was done, the definition of double would not be the piece of GIB garbage that it currently is!

After East wins his club king at trick four, NS have taken two tricks and EW have also taken two. With East now on lead, EW can now take at least three more tricks: two high hearts and the ace of diamonds. That would limit NS to 8 tricks on the hand.

East leads the heart jack, so EW are indeed on the way to taking the three tricks they are still entitled to...EXCEPT that West...OVERTAKES the heart (why?) to...SHIFT (!) to a SPADE (!)...INTO dummy's exposed and visible AQ4. Declarer North wins in dummy South and leads the diamond three, praying that West has the ace, as the diamond king is North's only possible entry to all his established club tricks.

North is in luck, because West DOES have the diamond ace. But at least West can pop it and cash another heart, limiting NS to only eight tricks, right? Well, yes, he CAN...but he DOESN'T (!), so North-South take NINE tricks, even though West had three opportunities for his side to take the THREE top tricks they had after East won the club king.

West makes the truly imbecilic lead of a club, North's KNOWN long and decent suit, against South's 3NT. West later follows up by winning his diamond queen (DECLARER'S known suit) at trick three and then CASHING his DIAMOND king (!) at trick four, thereby establishing declarer's last two diamonds and allowing declarer to claim.

These GIBBO witlings STILL seem to think it's good to lead the ENEMY suits and good to continue the suit DECLARER plays. As Pete Seeger wrote in "Where Have All the Flowers Gone", "When will they ever learn, when will they EVER learn?" The sad fact is that the GIBBO robots probably NEVER will, because they are THAT bad.

West makes the silly lead of the 9 of hearts (trump) from 95 doubleton. This dimwitted play ENSURES that declarer CANNOT go wrong in hearts.

At trick three, declarer South calls for dummy North's diamond 4, and when East follows with the deuce, South plays his 7. West, with Q95, could obviously win his 9, but for reasons best known to himself and those of similar "intelligence", he wins with his...QUEEN. He then cashes his club ace to ENSURE that declarer CANNOT go wrong in clubs. Next, he plays his carefully preserved (ha, ha) NINE of diamonds (maybe he couldn't BEAR to part with his Curse of Scotland earlier?) to also ENSURE that declarer CANNOT go wrong in diamonds.

Just another day at the races for the GIBBO robots: atrocious "bridge players" but VERY generous and friendly opponents - ALWAYS eager to help out the people they play against.

At trick five, East COULD play a heart, giving his partner West a ruff, but he prefers to give NS a ruff and discard, so NS take all the remaining tricks. (Yes, I'm aware that South's bizarre 1NT opening might have made it harder for East to visualize the situation - which is one of the reasons South DOES sometimes make bizarre bids against the robots).

Wasn't GIBBO supposed to have been enhanced to make leads more normal for humans, such as (gasp) a spade?

Does @lorserker who created it still work for BBO, and if so how come he has now failed to reply to any bug report here in two months?

Based on a very favourable club layout and a very favourable lead, 3NT made for a score of 94.09 % on the board, BUT regardless of the result or the random layout:

I think East should have made a responsive double (thereby getting both his suits into the picture) rather than bidding 3D.

Also, given that North decides to force to game, it seems that he should bid 3NT rather than his fatuous 3H, since he has protected kings in BOTH suits bid by the opponents.

The GIB definition of South's 3NT claims that he has "13-20 HCP". WHY? Why must he NOW have at least 13 when his opening bid promised only "ELEVEN to 21"? He has done NOTHING since then to indicate greater strength, because he HAD to do something over North's 3H!

Highly questionable diamond duck by East at trick three, especially considering that after winning his heart ace at trick four, he then immediately cashed his diamond ace anyway...and on AIR.

Why is East bidding 3D in direct seat with his unremarkable hand and why is West now LEAPING to 4H after earlier PASSING 2H? No wonder these GIBBO robots get SO many bad results.

Can't argue with success, since 6NT made 12 tricks (in no small part thanks to East's spade lead), but why did North accept the invitation? His 1NT had promised 12-14 HCP and he had 12 - the MINIMUM.

Executive Summary: The GIBBO system is flawed and antiquated. The GIB definitions are very poor. The GIBBO robots are extremely weak bridge players.
