ACE of diamonds at trick one: a play so witless that it would only be made by a rank beginner...OR, as it was here, by old, feeble, pudgy, hair-challenged Donald J. Dumbo!

Another compellingly HOPELESS "defence" by GIBBO "stars" Frick and Frack. Another complete zero for the GIBBO "stars".

What kind of I.D.I.O.T. would lead a DIAMOND from THAT holding on THIS auction?

Oh, wait. Never mind. I see that it was a GIBBO robot on lead. THAT explains EVERYTHING.

Halfwit and Dumbo work together and manage - in a true "partnership" performance - to block their OWN club suit.

Yet another complete ZERO for Halfwit and Dumbo. First, they AGAIN conspire to block their OWN club suit (looks like a TREND!) and second, Halfwit throws away so many hearts that I win THREE heart tricks and lose ONLY one...despite the fact that the GIBBO trout was born with KJ63 behind me!

Worst "defenders" EVER? Well, quite possibly, but in fairness I must mention that I heard of a bridge partnership between a blind cockroach and an elderly spider suffering from dementia and gout. Rumour has it that a SMALL number of observers feel that they MIGHT have been as bad as Halfwit and Dumbo. The jury is still out.

Oh, look: Johnny Halfwit is on lead. Oh, look: It's an irredeemably STUPID lead. Oh, look: No, it DOESN'T work out well for Halfwit and Dumbo.

Number one bridge tip for achieving good results at bridge: Do NOT have a GIBBO robot as your "partner".

Number two bridge tip for achieving good results at bridge: DO have a pair of GIBBO robots as your OPPONENTS.

This board was played 17 times. All 17 times it was played in 4S by North. 16 of the 17 times, including at my table, it went down one trick (for a NS score of 53.13 % on the board). The 17th time, it went down two tricks (for a NS score of zero).

But here's the REASON I'm posting the hand:

At some (probably most, maybe all?) tables, the auction was 1S by North, 2C by South, 4S by North...and there they were. Can't say I'm impressed by the GIBBO robot's 4S bid!

But at MY table, I was even LESS impressed by my centre hand opponent's egregious 4S bid, because at my table the auction was 1S by North, INT forcing by me, 2H by North, 3NT by me...and my absolute C.R.E.T.I.N. of a GIBBO "partner"...PULLED it to 4S! What a JERK!

As so often happens, the GIBBO twit in the North had the naive and imbecilic belief that his spade tricks would count ONLY in spades but NEVER in no trump. Note that on THIS random hand, EVEN Halfwit and Dumbo had no problem beating 4S...whereas 3NT was untouchable against any normal defence.

Typically hopeless, harebrained "defence" by the GIBBO twerp in the North.

If you are playing a game with three GIBBO robots, and you are sitting South as the sole human in the game, your worst enemy is always North. Your best friends and ALLIES are always East and West.

As I wrote in post 3049 immediately above, "If you are playing a game with three GIBBO robots, and you are sitting South as the sole human in the game, your worst enemy is always North. Your best friends and ALLIES are always East and West."

3049 exhibited the truth of the first part of that sentence. This post, 3050, exhibits the proof of the second part.

Whether the GIBBO robots are sitting North, West, or East, they can ALWAYS be counted on to produce the worst bridge anyone has ever seen. GIB/GIBBO is nothing but garbage.

In passout seat, I was considering doubling West's 1NT. I looked at the GIB definition of the double and saw that it was as sublimely pathetic, worthless, and stupid as I would EXPECT from a GIB definition.

THIS was the COMPLETE GIB definition for what a double of 1NT would show in this situation: "10- total points". That's IT, that's ALL!

Totally worthless, totally useless. Just plain garbage. The typically lazy statement "10- total points" literally means ZERO TO TEN! He could have ZERO...or he could have TEN...OR he could have anything in between! How the HELL will that NON-information help his "partner" in ANY way? Furthermore, by DEFINING the double in this (typically M.O.R.O.N.I.C.) way, GIB is basically giving its APPROVAL to a double of 1NT with...ZERO POINTS! In effect, GIB is tacitly RECOMMENDING such a double!

And note that it doesn't even say "0-10" HIGH-CARD points, which would also be useless garbage of the kind that GIB specializes in, but would at LEAST refer to HCP, where GIB has SOME understanding, as opposed to "total" points, about which GIB knows NOTHING.

To boot, I see NO reason WHATSOEVER that the doubler must have a maximum of 10 points. (In fact, as you can see, I had TWELVE...HIGH-CARD points.)

I've asked these questions before: Did the author of the GIB definitions actually think he was doing a GOOD job? Was he PROUD of his definitions? Why did he even waste his time writing so many definitions that either say NOTHING useful or that are actually WORSE than useless because they provide incomplete, illogical, inconsistent, or just plain INCORRECT "information"?

GIB definitions are not only the worst I have ever seen pertaining to bridge - they are the worst I have ever seen pertaining to ANYTHING...ANYWHERE.

I consider GIB's use of transfers rather than Stayman with this hand and all similar ones to be an extremely poor style. Yes, I realize that many human players, including some good ones, also have the same systemic use of Stayman as always being at least invitational, but i still consider this philosophy and treatment to be ill-advised and markedly inferior. I think that any GOOD system (which GIB is definitely NOT!) has a way to "have its cake and eat it too" by being able to use Stayman but then subsequently END the auction cheaply if an appropriate major fit is not immediately revealed.

One of the countless reasons that GIBBO robots are so horrifically inept at defence is that in addition to being overwhelmingly ignorant about the game, they are such craven cowards that they far too often pop their aces and kings. Stupid? Yes. Gutless? Indeed. Among the worst "defenders" of ALL time? Yep, you got it! GIB/GIBBO rots at anything and everything bridge-related.

Although we scored 96.4 % on this board, the GIBBO trout in the North still managed to demonstrate that he has absolutely no talent for the game. Note that at trick two the braindead GIBBO piece of trash - for absolutely no reason whatsoever, apart from GIB's stupid, sick, twisted, indeed perverse LOVE for imbecilically playing second hand HIGH - plays his jack of clubs (trump) from J3 doubleton. This play might or might not lose, but how can it EVER gain? I don't know if GIB was always garbage. Maybe in its early days it was okay. But I do know that ever since I began playing with and against GIB robots in 2017, it has always been pure garbage...and before I ever played even a single GIB hand, numerous GOOD bridge players had told me that they considered it to be hopeless.

Here's a hand that shows for what, maybe the 10 millionth time (?), how incredibly wretched the GIB/GIBBO system is and how stunningly pathetic the GIB definitions are.

As South, I made what seems to be a completely obvious and normal pass of North's 2H opening bid, given my stiff heart. In fourth seat, West competed by bidding 2S. North and East both passed, and I was now in the passout seat.

I wanted to compete...but how? Bidding hearts didn't seem appetizing, since I still had only a stiff heart. And I wasn't going to risk a double (WHATEVER it meant in the repulsive GIB system), since with a GIBBO "partner" that would be equivalent to playing Russian Roulette.

There WAS, however, a strong chance that North and I had a decent fit in one of the minors.

But WHICH minor? I could take a GUESS, and (assuming we actually DID have a fit in one of them) I'd have a 50 % chance of being "right"...which would be great! Unfortunately, I'd also have a 50 % chance of being "wrong"...by GUESSING the "wrong" minor.

Was there a way around this? Sure there was! In a DECENT system, a 2NT call by me at this point would not be natural. It would be a form of Unusual 2NT, asking my partner North to choose a minor and bid it at the three level. Perfect!

I checked the definition of 2NT to see what it meant in the laughable JOKE that passes for a "system" in the hopeless GIB/GIBBO universe. Sure enough, it did NOT ask North to choose a minor. Sadly, but not at ALL surprisingly, it was as typically RIDICULOUS as you would expect a GIB definition to be. This is what the piece of GIB junk said (and we'll discuss it one stupid part at a time):

"Invitational to 3NT game". First, note the totally useless, unnecessary, annoying, insulting insertion of the word "game". Note to Mr. GIB: The humans who play with and against your disgusting, nauseating GIB/GIBBO robots are not as astoundingly stupid as those inept robots are, so you do not have to include the word "game". Humans know that 3NT is "game". But here's a bigger issue, Mr. GIB: Why the HELL would South - who earlier PASSED his partner's 2H opening bid in an UNINTERRUPTED auction, and who was apparently quite content to let the auction END in 2H - now SUDDENLY, after his opponents have shown some STRENGTH by bidding (!) - NOW decide that he wants to invite game? ONLY in your TOTALLY illogical, TOTALLY ignorant GIB world, Mr. GIB, would such an inconsistent, illogical, and downright STUPID thought occur!

"19 HCP". What a MAMMOTH piece of STUPIDITY! First, if South has 19 HCP, why the HELL did he earlier PASS (!) his partner's 2H opening? Second, why EXACTLY "19 HCP"? Even IF (perhaps after being exposed to psychedelic, mind-altering substances) someone was foolish and gullible enough to fall for the total claptrap in this typically pathetic joke of a GIB definition, why would the South hand have EXACTLY 19 HCP? Why not 18...or 20...if he's on the same imbecilic wavelength as the creator of this travesty of a definition?

Now, had the definition said that 2NT was a "competitive 2NT, hoping to buy the contract in 2NT by South", that at least would have made SOME sense...but the absolute NONSENSE about the call inviting 3NT meant that it HAD to be a GIB definition, because GIB definitions are the worst that have ever been written anywhere, not just in bridge.

Unwilling to GUESS a minor and unwilling to RISK my always hopeless GIBBO "partner" blasting off into the stratosphere, thinking that I had "19 HCP", I reluctantly passed...but not before being reminded of the total, unbridled CONTEMPT that I have for GIB and perhaps especially for the constant bilge that passes for the pathetic GIB definitions. GIB/GIBBO is the pond scum of the bridge world.
