All the GIBBO dimwit had to do was play his low heart at trick three, allowing East to win the king and fire back his remaining spade. Then West, not having stupidly WASTED his entry, could win the SECOND round of hearts with his ace and give East a spade ruff (OR a diamond ruff) for down one.
Alternately, even AFTER foolishly popping his heart ace at trick three, West could have THEN given East a diamond ruff to beat the hand.
But don't ever expect a GIBBO slimebag to defend properly. Even if he has SEVERAL ways to succeed, as he does on this hand, he'll find the ONE way that DOESN'T work.
And as for BIDDING, maybe...just maybe...with a diamond VOID and EIGHT (!!!) strong clubs, East just MIGHT have scraped up enough "courage" (ha, ha) to mention his EIGHT-bagger over North's lowly 2D opener. GIBBO robots are not only hopeless - they're also gutless.

1. I know going in that my "partner" is one of the worst "bridge players" of all time and that my opponents also are.
2. It's fun.
3. It gives me a chance to try things that I would never even DREAM of doing in "real" F2F bridge.
4. It works out well more often than not.
Well, here's an "experiment" that DIDN'T work out. I opened an off-the-wall 1NT rather than a normal 1S and got to an "unmakeable" 3NT rather than to the normal 4S, which is ice cold for 11 tricks.
Mind you, note that on any lead but a club, playing in NT would have scored VERY well. Unfortunately, though, West had the world's most obvious lead of the club king, and even the GIBBO hayseed in the West found that lead.
When I saw that club king hit the table, I said to myself, "Self, it looks like you picked the wrong time to fool around. Oh well, c'est la vie. They don't ALWAYS work out".
I realized that they'd take a million clubs and I'd get a zero...but...something funny happened on the way to the Forum, because...they only took TWO (!!!) tricks, and I took...ELEVEN!
I actually made TWO OVERTRICKS...even though they LED and CONTINUED clubs, and my club "stopper" was 85 doubleton in my hand opposite 104 doubleton in the dummy!
The GIBBO M.O.R.O.N. in the East (old, feeble Donald J. Dumbo) played his TWO (!!!) of clubs from A2 doubleton (!!!) at trick one, because he was too OVERWHELMINGLY stupid to unblock!
This SHOULD now have been a VERY well-deserved BOTTOM for Johnny Halfwit and Donald J. Dumbo, and a very UNDESERVED TOP for me, but I only scored 25.71 % on the board, because in many cases where South opened 1S, West was too dimwitted to lead a club.
Stupidity is basically GUARANTEED with anything and everything that these GIBBO pieces of garbage do. GIB/GIBBO sucks pumice.

Later in the hand, I lose a diamond to East's offside king, and - true to form - the simpleton immediately returns a...DIAMOND.
All bridge players make mistakes sometimes, but GIBBO robots do it non-stop, hand after hand after hand. They are the worst of the worst, the lowest of the low. There is no reason and indeed no excuse for their continued existence in a modern world where there ARE competent robots, as opposed to this unmitigated GIBBO garbage.

GIBBO is a stain not just on bridge, but on the world. GIB/GIBBO's I.D.I.O.C.Y. is constant and unending. It is the worst.

Then on "defence" the two GIBBO deplorables fail to take the ace of spades.
The fact that the "I" in GIB stands for |Intelligent" is a travesty. I know of NOTHING that is LESS intelligent than a GIB/GIBBO robot.

I can't say that his 2NT is wrong in their system, but I firmly believe that 2D is superior. It shows basically the same strength (since he's a passed hand), but it also shows at least four diamonds, so it's a fuller description. Additionally, 2NT by North could easily be wrongsiding the contract, since his heart "stopper" is 863. Bidding 2D, although it is "forcing", would also give South the option of passing (as I would have done on this hand, given my bare minimum third seat opener and the fact that this was a "Best Hand" game). Finally, if NT is indeed the right spot and/or if a game exists, NS will be able to reach the right strain and/or level anyway over the inverted 2D.

"3+ diamonds; one heart; 17-21 HCP; 22- total points; likely stop in hearts".
First, why EXACTLY one heart?
But more laughably, this pathetic joke of a definition says early on that the double shows "one heart"...but later concludes by saying that it also shows a "likely stop in hearts".
Forget the fact that most GIB definitions are complete garbage, but did anyone ever even bother to proofread the garbage? It certainly does not seem so.

Why is the useless piece of GIBBO trash in the East freely and directly bidding 3H...on his "suit" of 8762...when his partner West (who redoubled South's takeout double_ could conceivably want to hammer 3C?
Here's the answer to both questions: They're both doing it - precisely because they are "useless pieces of GIBBO trash", and like all GIB/GIBBO robots, bridge is most definitely NOT a game they should be playing, because they absolutely stink at it.
And BTW, look at the typically useless, unnecessary, annoying, insulting first two words of the ALWAYS pathetic GIB definition of 3H: "New suit". Thanks SO much for that piece of WORTHLESS "information", Mr. GIB, but why don't you spend your time writing USEFUL definitions for once instead of the total drivel that we see almost all the time when we look at them?

East's 3NT is defined as showing "19-26 HCP". Did the creator of this useless joke of a system actually think it was a GOOD idea to have an...EIGHT(!!!) point range for the call? How is his poor partner supposed to judge intelligently whether or not to proceed, when the range is so ridiculously broad? Even if the GIBBO robot in the West was not a total M.O.R.O.N. (which, of course, he indisputably is, as are all the GIB/GIBBO trashcans), he would have to GUESS what to do. Was this system purposely designed to be the worst ever?
West GUESSES to bid a quantitative 4NT. Since he is largely in the dark about East's strength (thanks to the rotten GIBBO system and the worthless GIB definitions), I would have sympathy for him...except that the GIB definition of his 4NT bid claims that he's showing "11 HCP"...but he has ONLY 9! Oh yeah: REALLY good "strategy" to LIE to your partner...in an UNINTERRUPTED (!) potential slam auction!
When East chooses to accept the invitation by bidding 6NT, they have VERY luckily STUMBLED into a fifty percent contract that depends entirely on the club hook. Divine justice is served when the king is offside.

At trick seven, having been LIED TO by his ignoramus of a "partner", East plays a spade. This in itself is not fatal to the "defence", but West completes his "stellar" performance by...winning his spade king (fine) and then...I,D.I.O.T.I.C.A.L.L.Y. returning a spade. Presto! West's MASTERPIECE is now complete, as declarer ends up losing ONLY one spade rather than the TWO he SHOULD have lost.
I believe that an award is given each year for the best defended hand. That's unlucky for West, because if there was instead an award for the WORST defended hand, he would be VERY likely to win it.
GIB/GIBBO "bridge players" are the worst "bridge players" I have ever seen. GIB/GIBBO rots in every way.

For GIB and GIBBO robots, it's a JOKE that the "I" in the acronym stands for "intelligent", and if we use the term AI in reference to GIB and GIBBO, it is also a JOKE that the "I" (for them, that is, NOT for AI in general) stands for "intelligence"
GIB and GIBBO robots are the stupidest "bridge players" of all time.
If they were lawyers, they would be the stupidest lawyers of all time. If they were chefs, they would be the stupidest chefs of all time. If they were librarians, they would be the stupidest librarians of all time. If they were cab drivers, they would be the stupidest cab drivers of all time. If they were bricklayers, they would be the stupidest bricklayers of all time. If they were...well, I think you get the point!

Then at trick four, hearts are played for the first time. Declarer South calls for the 3 of hearts from dummy North's K532, and the same mongrel in the East decides that he MUST pop his queen from Q84 because, as a disgusting GIBBO robot, he firmly believes that second hand HIGH is a good play.

Donald J. Dumbo is a GIBBO robot.
Donald J. Dumbo is an I.D.I.O.T. Oops, sorry! I just realized that I'm merely repeating the same information that I already expressed in the paragraph directly above this paragraph.

Luckily I had the jerk covered with my double spade stopper and big source of tricks, but on ANOTHER random hand, the nitwit's ridiculous cuebid could easily have landed us in the soup. GIB/GIBBO sucks pumice.
For further evidence of how these GIBBO pieces of trash rot, look no further than trick four, where Superstooge in the West pops his heart ace, guaranteeing that I will take a tenth trick without having to guess the hearts. GIB/GIBBO stinks, and I suspect it will forever stink...which is an excellent reason to throw it into the nearest dumpster and replace it with a decent system, decent definitions, and decent robots...all of which do exist in 2026!

He MIGHT have leapt to 4S over South's 2S, but he chose not to, deciding to instead make a game try of 3D. Fine. Fair enough.
As South, I would have bid four hearts in a New York minute over North's 3D game try IF I were playing with a human partner, because the human partners I play with are all experts and I trust and respect their bidding judgment.
Here, however, I rejected the invitation, because here I was playing with a complete piece of trash = a stinking GIBBO robot for whom I have absolutely no respect whatsoever and whose bidding I never trust. These losers are usually huge overbidders, and I figured if this imbecile (who so often bids games on a wing and a prayer...and frequently even without the wing!) was "only" making a game try, his hand was probably as useless as he is. Thus, I bid only 3S. Playing with and against these incompetent clowns, I often bid perversely because I know how hopeless they all are.
North now...raised to FOUR spades, which SHOULD be a slam try. I passed, of course, because I knew this M.O.R.O.N. wasn't aware of that. I also KNEW that his hand couldn't be a slam try, since this was a Best Hand game.
Now, the game did make, but North's auction, despite the good result, was inexcusable. Had he bid 4S over 2S, I wouldn't have complained whether he made it or not...but once his game try was rejected, he had NO excuse to change horses in midstream and SUDDENLY decide that what HAD BEEN an invitational hand had now MAGICALLY become a game force.
And while the game made, it might not always have done so. Obviously, a less favourable layout could have scorched it, but also North received the GIFT of a diamond lead, removing any guess he had in the suit. How colossally STUPID was the GIBBO trashcan in the East to lead a diamond (!) after South had opened 1D...and North had made his game try in diamonds?! A club was the world's most obvious lead looking only ay East's hand and listening to the auction...but these braindead GIBBO warthogs are incapable of finding even the most obvious leads.

At trick three, East plays his 7 of diamonds from Q107...thereby FAILING to find the correct expert play of the queen. This FAILURE is quite IRONIC, since this is one of the relatively rare instances where second hand HIGH is actually the RIGHT play. These obtuse GIBBO twits FAR too often stupidly play second hand HIGH when it's WRONG, but here, when it's RIGHT, they fail to see it. GIB/GIBBO is the worst ever.
