Several tables had this same auction. 3♦, of course, is
4+D; 3-H; 3-S; 10-11 HCP; 12- total points.
5♦ is described as:
4+D; 21- HCP; 5- 8421HCP in D; 22 total points.
I thought I was just bidding game opposite a 10-12 count.
How did I deny having the A♦?
Why should this bid show 22 total points?

25 HCP slam not a terrible slam, and it makes, but..

The mysteries begin with the definition of the 2♥ call: 15-22 total points. This sets up a game force.
In a game forcing auction, GIB plays that the jump from 3♦ to 5♦ is a slam try showing doubt about trumps. (Denies two of the top three honors.)
4♦ instead of 5♦ would be natural and forcing but only promising 15 total points.

Maybe because you spurned other options like 4S splinter or 4NT but I wouldn't want to play in 6D with only Kxxx or even Qxxx versus Jxxxx if you take the description at face value- obviously GIB's actual evaluation is not the comment line in the file. Lucky the hand evaluation (in this case) is bit better that the comments. Whoever wrote that junk should be fired.

With doubt about the top honours, 6D is terrible bid with GIB's hand so you must have what GIB's thinks wrong.

Thanks, Ari. The description of 2♥ includes "forcing to 2N", and I didn't know what GIB's requirements were for a minor game. A couple of Souths bid 4♦ over 3♦ and, of course, NorthGIB raised to 5.
