Souths split on whether to rebid 1♠ or double. (Well, those who hadn't opened 1NT anyway...) GIB interprets both as 11-21HCP and 12-22 total points, with these distributions:
double: 3+C; 4-7D; 2-H; 3+S
1♠: 3+D; 4+S
Following double, NorthGIB bids 2♦ showing 3+D; 11- total points. Following 1♠, NorthGIB bids 2♣ showing 4+C; 3-S; 11- HCP; 8-12 total points. NorthGIB has neither the shape nor the strength described.

X from south looks normal to me, over which 2♦ by GIB is fine.
GIB's 2♣ rebid over 1♠ might have been okay if 3 of its pointed cards were clubs. What was GIB thinking?
After P-P-P-1♦-1♥-P-P-1♠-P GIB simulated among P, 2♣, 2♦, 2♠.
2♣ was the winning bid because it often elicited 3N from partner while 2♦ would have ended the auction.
GIB thinks that 2♣ shows 8-12 total points, hence allowing partner to bid 3N.
A solution here would be to redefine 2♣ as showing a long suit with 0-8 total points
