4 am in the morning, so probably nonsense again, but sounds like a penalty double of 1 rather than clubs to me, you better not pass this if your diamonds are headed by KQJ.

Again so what example hands do you expect for x and what should the 1d bidder do or think about, sigh?

I mean is AKJTxx the same as KQJTxx and should pull?

xxxx Axxx x KQT9 should double for penalties.

The 1 bidder should think about what to lead.

AKJTxx is better than KQJTxx because it has the ace. Neither should pull the double.

the contention is that, rather than imagining what the double might show, just know that your partner wants to defend. Just sit back, enjoy, and take a lead.
