My partner thought I was showing extras when I bid 2♠. I thought I needed to show my shape and be able to compete immeadiately. My partner contended that he needed to be able to balance, and that I shouldn't be competing when we don't have the BOP, and we rate to have a misfit. He said that in order for me to bid 2♠ I needed way more than what I had, and I should just pass and let them play wherever they play. I thought that his double was extremely dangerous, and that he should pass... He thought I should pull to 4♣ since I'm 6-4, and I've only shown 5-4. I also thought he should raise to 3♣ immeadiately, but didn't bring that part up... Also, he mentioned that we will often have a big misfit and will be going for a number in 2♠ or 3♣ when he is like 6-4 or 5-5 in the reds. I think I cannot live in fear, and must bid there. Anyway, who has lost their mind?

Actually, I am confused about one thing -- where's YOUR double? When does your partner think you have extras for your double when you did not double?
Anyway, assuming that the auction is actually what happened...
2♣ = normal
East's pass = dumb ass
2♠ = normal (Of course you need shape but not strength...DUH)
3♣ = has every ounce of that
West's first pass = normal
Dbl = WTF?!?!? East has two cards of interest, and they are in West's length. I might double 5♥, but I'd intend it as striped-tail ape.
West's second pass = what else? West has what West said West has. East doubled. Lead now.
Summary: East is insane.

East is not close to having a double of 3♥ after partner opened a precision 2♣.
Could have been worse, would be -930 if they were vulnerable!

West should convince east to play that 2C shows 6 clubs.

Partner was right you shouldn't bid 2♠.
You were very right partner shouldn't double 3♥.
Partner was very wrong that you should pull his double.
You weren't perfect, but he was a lot worse.

Classic is 11-15 HCP with 6+ clubs, maybe five clubs if a four-card major also.

We are all connected to each other biologically, to the Earth chemically, and to the rest of the universe atomically.
We're in the universe, and the universe is in us.

Not surprised there was some acrimony later...

Sometimes you make 3 bad bids and still get a good results, but not here.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

My thoughts exactly. 2♥ gains nothing defensively and thus should be more constructive. 2♠, on the other hand, is the most frustrating call in bridge for the opponents.

I don't care what kind of extras East thinks 2♠ shows.... his double of a part score into game is AWFUL at IMPs.
Regardless of whether 2♣ shows 5♣+4M or 6♣ East really should get his hand off his chest with an immediate 3♣ which is not forward going unless opener has a very nice hand. That might result in shutting the opps out.
Opener's 2♠ is certainly pushy on this real minimum. I'd pass, but I don't hate the bid.
East's complaint that opener didn't pull 3♥x shows that West would do well to find a new PD.
Blame 10% West (2♠ a bit too pushy) 90% East (who should learn not to X part scores into game based on his PD's presumed hand unless he expects to set it 2)

Help

2♣ - (Pass) - Pass - (2♦)
2♠ - (Pass) - 3♣ - (Pass)
Pass - (3♥) - Dbl - (Pass)
Pass - (Pass)
Lead: 2♥
Result: Making Four. -630.
