♠K9x ♥void ♦AKJT9xx ♣Qxx
1♠ - (P) - 2♦ - (2NT)
P - (5♥) - ?
You play 2/1 GF. If you pass, partner will double.

We need 4 keycards form partner I think (we might need that he has ♦Q if we get shortened on trick 1), so a minimum opennig that fits (or non fitting extras) its what you need for bidding slam after an invitation.

Given example I did not judge your comments. Tried to show without any sarcastic comment & gloating. I would really like not to see your comments on my next posts. Likewise I ll follow same route and never join your posts from now on.
Good luck in your bridge career.

Anyways pass and 5S is way too much imo, we have a 13 count with bad trumps and no club control. I would just bid 5S now and didn't really consider it a close call.

For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

Hi Phil, and others.
I am not accustomed to playing 2/1.
Apart from being forcing, what does partners pass show? Is it limited?
Do not underestimate the power of the dark side. Or the ninth trumph.

It shows (for me anyway), the inability to make another call. It usually denotes a balanced hand without a penalty of their suits, or great support for me, or a rebiddable spade suit. It tends to respect a penalty double from me.

So it typically is a weak NT?

That description could fit any strength. Does pass limit the strength of the hand?

We can make slam opposite AQxxx in spades and out opposite a heart lead and a good view in diamonds. So 5 Spades is not enough for me.

My hand is certainly slaminterested, even a Grand is possible here.
A fast 6♠ might well elicit a 7♥ insurance call which i could pass to show void and grand interest.
My bid is 6♠!
To pass and then pull a Dbl to 5♠ or 6♦ would tend to show a singleton ♥ and more hi card values IMHO

Doesn't a forcing pass, then pulling partner's double show more offense? 5♠ immeadiately is not a ST imo. Pass then 5♠ for me.
