Regardless of result, look at the bidding of the GIBBO stooge in the North.

After East passes, South opens 1D, and West overcalls 1S, North bids 1NT, defined as "8-11 HCP; likely stop in spades". Fine, no complaint (for ONCE), because he has 9 HCP and jack-fourth of spades.

East bids 2S. South (who HEARD North's 1NT bid!) and West both pass. North chooses to double, basically bidding AGAIN the same values that he has ALREADY shown via his 1NT bid, In fact, he's clearly in the LOWER range of what he has ALREADY shown, since his range was defined as "8-11 HCP" and he has only 9 - just one more than his possible minimum. The GIB definition of his double is, not surprisingly, a pathetic joke, SO pathetic that we'll examine the worthless collection of trash piece by ludicrous piece:

"1+ spade". Oh yeah, that tells us a LOT. "1+", since no upper limit is stated, literally means 1 to 13, which is, wouldn't you say, just a little vague? Moreover, he earlier bid 1NT over West's 1S overcall and his 1NT showed a "likely stop in spades", so, you know, I kind of doubt that he could have ONLY one spade.

"11- HCP". This sloppy, lazy, TYPICAL GIB description, with no lower limit, literally means zero to 11. Golly gee, what happened? Because his EARLIER 1NT bid was defined as showing EIGHT to 11, so when he bid 1NT he needed at LEAST 8 HCP, but NOW...when he's pretty much forcing us to at least TWO no trump or three of a suit, NOW he can do it with ZERO HCP. What happened? Did his hand shrink? Did his HCP vanish? Was he held up at gunpoint and forced to hand over his HCP? How the HELL is it possible that with the SAME hand, he earlier PROMISED at least 8 HCP, but NOW can have fewer...maybe even zero. Utter madness...and utter garbage. In other words, sickeningly TYPICAL GIB trash!

"11+ total points". Oh, really? So he can have ZERO HCP, but he MUST have at LEAST 11 "total" points. Okay, Mr. GIB, if that's the case, then where the HELL are those "total" points coming from, especially considering that NS have not yet identified a fit? Admit it, Mr. GIB. Admit the obvious truth: You haven't got a CLUE about "total" points - what they are, how they're CORRECTLY computed, or anything else. Why don't you do the world a favour and stop exposing your ignorance about "total" points? Just stop including them in the pathetic GIB definitions, because any mention of them in a GIB definition is worthless and useless anyway.

"Likely stop in spades". Yeah. We know. We were already told that when he bid 1NT.

There is NO useful information in this definition, but there IS quite a bit of utter nonsense. Meanwhile, SHOULD North even be doubling here? Well, let's be kind and understanding, keep a VERY open mind, and just say that at the very least it is an "aggressive" decision.

After North's questionable double, East passes and South bids 3D. (We'll soon come back to this.) West bids 3S, and Now NORTH...bids the SAME values...that he has already shown TWICE...a THIRD time. He does this in DIRECT seat, NOT passout position. In other words, he didn't HAVE to bid, because if he passed, his partner South would have been able to bid and compete if he thought it was right, so on top of everything else, North is INSULTING his partner South by basically saying that only HE (North) knows what to do.

North bids FOUR diamonds, contracting for TEN tricks. He does this RED AGAINST WHITE...with NO extra values or shape or fit beyond what he has already shown TWICE previously. He does this opposite a partner, South, who after opening 1D, subsequently PASSED North's 1NT bid. You know, I kind of think South doesn't have extras either! South's ONLY call after opening was 3D, a call he was basically FORCED to make when North doubled 2S. And what did South's FORCED 3D bid show? Well, according to the GIB definition (See, I TOLD you we'd "soon come back to this"!), it showed "4+ diamonds; 11+ HCP: 12 total points" (Lord knows why, as usual, regarding the "total" points!). So North, bidding his SAME values for a THIRD time, at the FOUR level, bids FOUR DIAMONDS opposite partner South, who could have ONLY four diamonds and ONLY 11 HCP. And what is the HUGE hand and MAMMOTH diamond support that North has for this courageous journey into the Land of Ten Required Tricks? He has a PANCAKE FLAT 4-3-3-3 hand where the FOUR cards are in the ENEMY suit, spades. He has a mere THREE diamonds opposite a partner, South, who could have as few as four. He has a mere 9 HCP, having initially shown a possible ELEVEN, and those mere 9 are opposite partner South, who might have only 11 himself. The GIB definition of 4D says it PROMISES "4+ diamonds", which literally means 4 to 13. Forget 13. Forget the plus. He DOESN'T have "four PLUS diamonds". He doesn't even have FOUR diamonds. He has three - one fewer than the MINIMUM he is promising.

The sooner these GIBBO pieces of garbage are forever buried in a landfill, the sooner the BBO members and customers will be able to enjoy a DECENT game of bridge free from the unrelenting nonsense of the current clownish, pitiful robots.

Decent result of 71.4 % on the board, but I fail to see any wisdom in North's 2D bid and am not impressed by his 3NT call.

West doubles 2S for no discernible reason. West gets to add ANOTHER zero to the massive collection he has in various warehouses across five continents.

In describing the GIBBO system, the GIB definitions, and the GIBBO robots, I very often use unflattering and derogatory terms. It brings me no joy to write negatively and insultingly, but...truth and accuracy are important, and as a wise (but ungrammatical) person once said (metaphorically, not literally), "Pigs is pigs".

Here is a sterling example of why - sadly (!) - negativity is essential in accurately describing the GIBBO system, the GIB definitions, and the GIBBO robots.

Look at North's agonizingly STUPID 2NT call. The GIB definition is "Invite to 3NT, no four-card major, 9 HCP".

North's HAND is 1098, KQ103, K96, QJ4.

He has ELEVEN HCP. His partner South...opened 1NT! He KNOWS that his partnership has between 26 and 28 HCP! Why ON EARTH would he merely be INVITING 3NT?

His own GIB definition states that he has "9 HCP". He often ignores his own GIB definitions (sometimes understandably, because GIB definitions often REEK, but they should still be adhered to or the definitions should be changed!), but to ignore it HERE, where he is OBVIOUSLY making a gross underbid, is crazy.

His own GIB definition also states that he has "no four-card major", yet he is STARING AT...in his OWN hand...the KQ103...which is not only a four-card major, but a GOOD one with the king and queen...and 10. Perhaps even more striking is that it is the SAME four-card major (hearts) that his partner South SHOWED in response to North's Stayman enquiry (which he systemically made by doubling West's artificial 2C bid). Now, it's possible that North, knowing that his partnership has PLENTY of combined HCP, and looking at his own pancake flat 3-4-3-3 hand MIGHT decide to play in no trump rather than hearts. First, NT is a higher-scoring strain. Second, a heart contract could conceivably be damaged by enemy ruffs, whereas a no trump contract could not. Fair enough. BUT: If he decides that he wants to play in NT (which I would not criticize, whether it turned out "right" or "wrong" on this or any other random hand), why the HELL did he go out of his way (!) to (effectively) bid Stayman? And why the HELL, did he then - after discovering his side's heart fit, THEN revert to NT? IF NT was his goal, he should have just BID the NT game himself.

So, to sum up:

North made an INVITATIONAL bid when he had a CLEARCUT game-going hand that even a novice would recognize.
He ignored his own GIB definition.
He LIED about his HCP, stating that he had 9, when he had ELEVEN.
He LIED by denying a four-card major when he DID have one - a GOOD one - AND it was even the SAME one that his partner had just shown!
He went out of his way to ask his partner for a four card major...and when his partner showed the very same major (hearts) that HE had, he then...REVERTED TO NT, so why did he even BOTHER asking about a major?

As I wrote at the beginning, "It brings me no joy to write negatively and insultingly", but when GIBBO atrocities such as this occur (and sadly they occur very, VERY frequently), "negativity" is the ONLY possible avenue to take if one is to be honest and accurate.

We got a decent result on this board, largely thanks to East's witless raise to 4H, but North typically (and regardless of layout or result) preferred to lead an ENEMY suit rather than his partner's. Based on their silly actions, it would be easy to figure out that East and North were GIBBO robots even if you were not told. When stupidity is visible, it's usually quite obvious that the perpetrator is a GIBBO robot.

I have no idea what North's bidding options were in his execrable, antiquated GIBBO joke of a bidding system, but it's quite apparent that his choice to jump to 3NT was the choice of a "player" so monumentally ignorant that he should immediately quit bridge forever and never return.

Although I made all 13 tricks, it's apparent that we were in the right contract, since a club lead would hold us to 11 tricks. Thus, I am not complaining about the result.

Despite that, however, I AM complaining about the bidding. I think that North's bidding was, as a sheep would put it, ba-ha-ha-had BAD.

He has QUITE a hand after my JUMP to THREE spades over his transfer bid of 2H. I believe he should have cued 4H over my 3S. We would then end up safely in FIVE spades, and we would NOT lose our plus score, but if I had had a club control, we WOULD have been able to reach what WOULD have been a cold slam.

West, a tough opponent as always (ha...ha, ha, ha...HA!...HA!HA!...HA!HA!HA!)...pops his heart ace at trick two (!), obviously TERRIFIED that he will never get it otherwise.

By doing so, this perpetually ignorant GIBBO loser removes declarer's heart guess and basically HANDS him his contract (including an overtrick) on a platter, as declarer LAUGHS his way to eight tricks.

Question: Do GIBBO robots stink at "defending"?

Answer: Is this a joke? Of COURSE they stink. Pay attention!

North's first pass is highly questionable. His second is highly stupid. North is a proud member of the GIBBO robot community.

East shows that he is a typical GIBBO robot - in other words, an imbecile, I.D.I.O.T., C.R.E.T.I.N., and *****.

The stooge bids 3H...red against white...in DIRECT, NON-passout position, with the same "values" with which he ALREADY bid 2H. He has ONLY three hearts, a MERE 6 HCP, and a FLATTISH 4-3-4-2 shape. He might as well pay for advertising time on every television network in the world so that he can stand there and say, "Look at me. I am hopeless at bridge. I know it, you know it, everyone knows it. My only excuse is that I am a GIBBO robot saddled by pathetic GIB definitions, an antiquated, unworkable GIBBO system, and the 'intelligence' of a caterpillar. I readily admit that I and all my GIB/GIBBO brother and sister robots are quite possibly the worst 'bridge players' of all time, and I beg your forgiveness for having to endure our stupidity, whether you are our partner or our opponent. Thank you for watching and listening to my confession."

Just a couple of observations on the pieces of trash known as GIBBO robots:

They would probably never be good defenders anyway, due to their inability to "think" and their overall extraordinary incompetence, but they are obviously not helped by the fact that they rarely if ever signal.

They truly must have learned their...ahem..."skills" on another planet (and definitely NOT a more advanced one) because they tend to get most things backwards (just as their scintillatingly awful GIB definitions so often do). They tend to overbid, but worse than that, they are aggressive for NO reason, yet when they SHOULD be aggressive, they turn into cowardly wimps. They love to lead ENEMY suits, hate to lead theirs or their partner's.

There are numerous other reasons that they are by far the worst "bridge players" that I have ever seen or ever will see, because I can't IMAGINE anyone being even CLOSE to as wretched as they are, let alone WORSE.

GIBBO robots are a drizzling stain on the game of bridge.

Although the GIBBO robots are horrendously bad at all aspects of bridge, they CAN be difficult to read...because their actions are so insane that they are beyond imagination.

In this hand, both North and East did things that made me wonder if LSD is making a comeback.

My 1NT opener (with AKJ86, QJ, 10984, A8) will not meet with universal approval (and understandably so) but it's what I do when playing at a table where my "partner" and both opponents are all known to be clueless, hopeless imbeciles with no idea whatsoever about how to play bridge - in other words, GIBBO robots.

West's pass was normal. North might have bid 4D (Texas transfer to 4H), but he chose 2D (Jacoby transfer to 2H). Maybe he was planning on subsequently raising my hypothetical 2H response to 4H in an uninterrupted auction, as that would be a mild slam try...but who KNOWS what he was "thinking", since he is INCAPABLE of thought, and the auction didn't go the hypothetical way that was mentioned, because...

East doubled 2D. The GIB definition was pathetic, as usual, but the double itself was fine, showing good diamonds.

I now passed. This was in accordance with the always hopeless GIBBO system, in which a 2H call by me at this point would have shown at least three hearts. While I was being a good boy and obeying their JOKE of a system (which the harebrained GIBBO pieces of trash THEMSELVES often FAIL to do), my REAL reason was that if diamonds were to be led, I wanted them led into my "partner" in case he had something like KX. Anyway, after my pass, West passed too.

North now leapt to 3NT. None of us knew his hand at this point, so my assumption was that he had bid his hand normally and was showing a hand with exactly 5 hearts and 10 or more HCP, expecting me to either pass 3NT or convert to 4H.

After SEEING his hand, it became obvious that his bidding had been bizarre (but don't worry: It soon gets OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD bizarre!), because given that he had SIX good hearts AND 14 good HCP, it appears that he had ORIGINALLY planned to do what I described in the final sentence of my fourth paragraph of this post: transfer to 2H, then jump to 4H over my expected 2H response, thereby making a mild slam try in hearts. Fine...BUT if that WAS his intention, he could STILL have conveyed the SAME message on our actual auction by STILL jumping to 4H...but here over East;s double of 2D rather than over my anticipated bid of 2H. Instead, he leapt to 3NT, thereby showing a hand such as what I described in the preceding paragraph, and thereby MISDESCRIBING HIS HAND, as he so often does. And if making a mild slam try was actually NOT his original plan, then he should have transferred over my 1NT opener by originally responding FOUR diamonds, not TWO. So ANY way you slice it, his bidding was off the walls...as was EAST'S next INCREDIBLE call!

He had already doubled 2D to show good diamonds, and NOW he doubled 3NT! Expecting his double to have some SEMBLANCE of sanity, I believed him, and I "ran" to 4H. I assumed that East's SECOND double (the one of 3NT) showed what a BRIDGE PLAYER would have: At LEAST 5 solid diamonds...OR an ALMOST-solid diamond suit WITH a "guaranteed" side entry. In reality, as I later saw, the know-nothing BOZO actually had Q732, 75, KQJ73, 74!!! Astounding! His double of 2D was fine, but his double of 3NT is FROM THE MOON! The GIB definition of it was also pathetic, totally useless garbage that was EXACTLY the same, word for word, as the GIB definition of his double of 2D. THAT one was "merely" TYPICALLY pathetic, but to repeat (!) the SAME...PATHETIC definition for the double of 3NT shows how STUNNINGLY bad the GIB definitions are.

Anyway, never in a million years woukd I have expected ANYONE or ANYTHING...EVEN a braindead, useless, piece of trash like a GIBBO robot, to make such a sick, twisted, ludicrous double of 3NT, so, as already stated, I "ran" to 4H.

West passed, and then NORTH came up with the MOST bizarre bid of the auction - yes, as hard as it is to believe, his bid was even MORE insane than East's INSANE double of 3NT!

North, who had bid a PASSABLE 3NT...that was DOUBLED by the opponents...and that I, his partner, RAN from (obviously thinking that I could not make 3NT and hoping that I COULD make 4H), NOW...JUMPED (!)...yes, JUMPED (!)...all the way to...SIX (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) ...NO TRUMP!!!! His partner (me) had RUN from a mere THREE no trump, and now this total MADMAN was JUMPING to SIX no trump!

Next: East, who had (insanely!) doubled a mere THREE no trump, now...PASSED...SIX no trump! Where the HELL is there ANY logic for the bids of North or East? Better yet, why are they allowed out in public without half a dozen GUARDIANS each?

South and West also passed. So the final contract after this mad as a hatter auction was 6NT by South...and now WEST showed that he too should not be let out in public without guardians, because...

He was on lead with 104, 986, 65, K96532, and he led a...CLUB! He did NOT lead a diamond, the suit his "partner" had SHOWN and had basically BEGGED him to lead. Of COURSE he didn't lead a DIAMOND. HE'S a GIBBO robot, so HE...HATES to lead his "partner's" suit. He led a club from his king, a king that happened to be BEHIND my ace, so he gave me a trick with his choice. But even if he hadn't, even if it had turned out to be the KILLING lead,...why on EARTH would he be leading ANYTHING but a diamond? I guess if East wanted a DIAMOND lead when playing with a fellow GIBBO robot as his "partner", he should have bid 3C (!) over North's 2D transfer rather than doubling. THEN West would have probably quickly fired out a DIAMOND on opening lead, because these perverse LUNATICS always seem to do the opposite of what any SANE person would do.

I made an overtrick in 6NT, scoring 1020, and getting 100 % on the board. East-West got yet ANOTHER complete zero for their world-famous collection, and NORTH is probably buying drinks for all the other robots in the GIBBO bar and bragging about how his excellent bidding earned his partnership this top.

Please, please, PLEASE send these hopeless and hideous GIBBO monstrosities to a robot graveyard. They stink. They rot. They are the lowest of the low and the worst of the worst. They are abomination and an embarrassment to the game. They are disgusting. They are losers, simpletons, fools, and clowns.
