The awesome, astounding wretchedness of the nauseating world of GIB/GIBBO is well represented with the hand that will be discussed in this post.

The auction is mandated, which means that GIBBO not only condones but also actually recommends every call made here.

Although East-West happen to be cold for 5D on a correct spade guess, East's 3S is still perhaps slightly questionable, opposite a "partner" who showed a mere 7-9 total points. But more importantly, East is disregarding his own GIB definition (what else is new?), which states that 3S shows "18-19 total points". East, of course, does not have even CLOSE to 18-19 total points, so it's not only a question of disobeying his own system, but also...and more importantly, of conveying inaccurate information to his "partner". Furthermore, if East's 3S call IS a good bid...then the execrable GIB definition should be CHANGED to acknowledge that.

The GIB definition of West's double of 4H is the same completely useless garbage that we have come to expect from most GIB definitions. It fails to answer the KEY question of what the double actually means or what information it is attempting to convey. ALL that the typically pathetic GIB definition says is "4+ diamonds; 7-9 total points" - information that had ALREADY been provided earlier in the definition for 3C.

THEN...to make matters even MORE comical, West's subsequent double of FIVE diamonds says exactly the same useless, repeated things, word for word: "4+ diamonds; 7-9 total points". Did the creator of the miserable GIB definitions (pretty much ALL of them!) actually think he was providing a useful service with them? Did he actually think he was writing GOOD definitions?

But the REAL comedy from this hand arises when Johnny Halfwit and Donald J. Dumbo "defend" against 5H doubled and actually allow it to make (!), despite the fact that they have three cashable top tricks.

GIB/GIBBO sucks pumice. GIB/GIBBO rots. GIB/GIBBO is the lowest of the low, the worst of the worst. GIB/GIBBO is a sin against bridge. GIB/GIBBO stinks.

Here's a useful tip for playing in a game with three GIBBO robots: When in doubt, assume that the robot (whether North, West, or East) is doing something stupid. That assumption will not always be correct, but in my experience it will be correct more often than not. Don't forget the first three words of the tip, however. Use it ONLY "when in doubt".
