The reason I bid 1NT was that I had too many values to pass and I was hoping that I'd catch "partner" North with hearts. I did - but it didn't help, for the usual reason, namely the MAMMOTH ignorance of the VERY laughably and ridiculously inappropriately named "Ginsberg's 'Intelligent' (!!!!!!) Bridgeplayers" (sic!). Thus he put up an honour at trick one and I played my ace. He ruffed and now had two quick pitches for his two losing hearts. It would not have helped me to duck. Once the useless GIBBO jackass in the North led a club, nothing could be done to prevent the disaster.

Maybe, though, I should have helped my "partner" by making a lead-directing double of East's artificial 3H bid during the auction?
