We sometimes criticize BBO, but here I would like to say that a great Job was done with the new GUI.
A good look that streamlines our use.

Wow, i didn't think it was possible but they made it even more Fisher-Price and cluttered.

Why am I suprised?

And all the fonts are too thin and hard to read.

Please please please revert this. It's a disaster for readability.

Looks the same to me - and it gave me a great result http://bit.ly/newGIBgui

Interesting, it took about 6 hours to reach my computer in Australia. Looks much the same to me.
I assume that the extra black bit referred to by others is where the Ads would be if I were not a paying customer with an Ad-blocker.

One thing that I don't like is the way that tournaments are no systematically grouped in the Daylong section.
In the past, I have accidentally registered for a tournament when I meant to click on a different one. (EG Declare Daylong (MP) 1 vs my favourite the MP no 1.

The problem is compounded because once you register for a daylong you cannot 'unregister' even if you haven't opened a board.

I commented in the Software Suggestions forum. I'll summarise here.

Too much wasted space with the new side tab font. (What is with the modern trend toward smaller fonts with an ageing demographic?)

The empty black area to the left of the hamburger on the playing screen is also wasted space and the black extending between the various displays below the hamburger is distracting.

Disagree. More shuffling chairs on a sinking ship.

Just as I'd got used to the inferior non-Flash version, they then go and make it even worse. How hard is it to realise that redesigning for the sake of redesigning is not a good idea?

I just saw it and I can barely read the text portions - the font is thin and light - my older eyes can barely make it out! This is a terrible option for those of us with minor vision issues, or just aging eyes.

I honestly don't understand how this got past any sort of approval process. I'm 36, don't wear glasses, and have a hard time reading it.

I agree, I like that I can see more on the page without having to scroll as much.
Some of the windows (eg list of tables, or tables still playing, under the Director tab) are a little large - a smaller font and less leading (line spacing) would make life easier.
Just one personal comment - my old eyes have difficulty with the tab fonts. Grey really is a pain, especially with thin fonts, most of the fonts are black - why not on the tabs.
Nevertheless, a great improvement. Well done.

Agree the layout is nice but I have difficulty reading the type with ageing eyes.

It is now more cluttered than before, if that is possible, please bring back format of Flash Player, much superior in layout. TeresaRigney.

I like the new layout even with my old eyes. There's plenty of room for new features to be added.

BBO uses
font-family: Roboto,"Helvetica Neue",sans-serif;

I think you can override in browser settings. I use the Lexend Deca font - https://fonts.google...men/Lexend+Deca

I like the new layout on two columns and the clear separation between 'Play or Watch Bridge' and 'Featured Areas' (all the rest).
I too dislike the thin narrow font, not because I have problems of close-up sight but because it looks awkward on the white background and in contrast to the History Panel.
The overall aesthetic result is messy - there are at least four different graphic styles on the same page, with no apparent logic.

There was a recent chrome update that could have affected your settings.
Also, some extensions will change your readability settings.
Microsoft Edge uses the Chrome browser in the background so this should work with Edge as well.

To select size and fonts in Chrome:
  • Click on the three dots (looks like an overgrown colon or '...' but upright
  • From the menu select 'settings' - it's near the bottom of the list
  • This will open a new tab
  • in the search box at the top write 'size' or 'Font'
  • Click 'Appearance' on the left menu (West for Bridge players)
  • Now click the little arrowhead on the right (East) where it says 'customise fonts'
  • On this menu, you can choose the size and type of all of your display fonts.
  • No need to 'save' any change is made and saved immediately.

If you only want to change the size temporarily, use the 'page zoom' option.
When I change the page zoom number from 90 to 110 my text looks this much bigger.

You can choose 'Comic Sans' if you want it to look like this. I don't recommend it Posted Image.

Interesting. Perhaps they could give the viewer a choice of views. I am sympathetic with those with weakened eyes.

And it seems to depend on the browser.

The big improvement I want is the ability to rid myself of old worthless (to me) messages!

Would using the magnifier tool in windows help?

Would you like a Horse and a Buggy to go with that?
