Has something to be said for it concerning those with vision problems, and it can help when you are on a BRB, but otherwise I found it annoying....kind of like my real partner, LoL.

So I turned it off. Is there a button somewhere that turns off partners?

How ironic this feature was released the week Deep Throat was unmasked.

one irritating feature, is when a card is played it interupts the flow of speech from table chat or private chat, (possibly I should not be recieving chat when playing), but overall, it seems to function well

This means either you have not installed version 4.2.8 or that BBO did could not start Microsoft's speech software on your PC.

Assuming you are sure you have installed the new version properly (the version number appears at the left of the window that you first see when you click your BBO icon) please let me know what version of Windows you have.

:o

worked fine at home with xp

frankly, i'm shocked that there is one, much less two, people still using ME - shame on you!

i think this is a great feature if you can control yourself enough to use for only a few key items, depending on your needs. for myself, i think just hearing the bids will be enough, as i'm often in another window when i should be paying attention.

nice work again fred/uday, as usual.

The speech feature is great, but the language mix is irritating. At some parts my language setting works, at others it does not. Espacially suit and number (as Karl already mentioned) are in different languages.

It's excellent. If you try "eeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" it's a real hoot!

It bothers me that all women sound like old men. They may be old, but they are usually not men

Can we have an option that separates club private chat from private chat... listening to

=> Club: !H30 min to ABA GOLD tourney - register now !H!S turnieju klubowego ABA GOLD - zarejestruj sie teraz !D!C Torneo ABA GOLD - Siete pregati di iscrivervi al plú presto! !H!S Le tournoi ABA GOLD enregistrez vous SVP - Merci !D!C Turniej Klubowy ABA GOLD - Zarajestruj sie teraz ĦD!C Turnier - jetzt anmelden -Torneo ABA GOLD ~ Registrar ahora ~ Odin chas do ABA GOLD ~ registriruites´seichas!HLUIS (Calabres)

Is very distracting, but I like having private chat voice on, so I don't have to keep an eye on the chat area...

On a serious note it is annoying when the voiec is half way through one message and you receive another. The voice just switches to the new message, cutting short the original.

Also, when receiving a PM, there should be an option to hear who it is from (for those short of sight, or looking away from their PC).

e.g.

Fred (lobby) : Hi Dean

would be "Fred says Hi Dean" in voice if the option was selected.

I felt like a kid playing with a new toy! I couldn't stop laughing. The english accent when speaking french was the best
The lady who welcomes us to BBO would be nice to use as a voice for females, so that we don't all sound like old men with deep throats taped under water (as quoted by 3 different posters). Her voice has presence  .
I know this feature was not added for our amusement, and it has a very useful funtion, but for me, until i figure out which of the options would require a voice, i will refrain from turning it on ;) Unless of course i want to play around and try out different situations with voice....

Here is a link to a forums thread that describes what to do if you cannot see the Voice button in 4.2.8:

Hi Fred

I'm experimenting with the new version and running into a bug.
Jillybean reserved a seat for me at her table.
Each time that I tried to sit, the client had a soft hang.
I could exit the program withot a problem, but could not get seated.

I can't seem to replicate this problem. Are you trying to sit via:

1) "seat reserved do you want to sit?" message that appears when you log in
2) By clicking on seat from list in main bridge club
3) By clicking on seat from the table itself

Also, please describe the symptons of the "soft hang" that you experience.

Thanks,

Hi Fred,

Here's as much as I recall...

I had just finished a tournament and was spectating some folks who were finishing.
Jilly served a table

I used the "right click" Join Jllybean's table option. When I tried to sit at the table, I "hung". The application made the clicking timer noise. I waited for 20-30 seconds without getting seated.

I tried logging out and logging back in without any luck.
As soon as Jilly unreserved the seat, I was able to sit without a problem

Lol

Fred....My nephew wants to know how you managed to put his GrandDaddy inside my computer.

PS Unless you forward me a reasonable answer, understood by a 3 3/4 year old, by next Saturday please expect an unaccompanied attention-seeking little brat arriving at your door-step in Vegas at 5.00pm Sunday evening..

Thanks in advance

Alessio

PS he only eats eggs if he can dip his lickle soldiers in the yoke and you make aeroplane noises as you direct the bread in a looping fashion to his mouth.

PPS i get a 'soft hang' too sometimes.. i know i shouldnt drink too much :)

I care about the friends I have made on BBO. Also, I am extremely concerned about the environment/ ecology/ wildlife/ the little planet that we call Earth. How much more of the world's habitat and food supply for animals do we plan on destroying. How many more wetlands are we going to drain, fill, and build on? How many more sand dunes are we going to knock down in the interests of high-rise hotels or luxury homes?

I love the new voice feature although some letters/ words / cards played get jumbled or omitted when play speed is relatively quick (albeit not that high).
Someone else in the room had a dissenting opinion...

"What is that noise? TURN IT OFF"
That's what headphones are for, I guess. and/or muting

BTW: considering switching the voice to a different language such as Francais ou
Espaniol, si. Maybe will help improve my knowledge of these languages. Espaniol would be especially helpful considering the fact that I work in a school in the south bronx, NYC where a subtstantial percentage of people hablas espaniol.

This voice option was a really thoughtful and creative idea.

How has no one mentioned that the voice is the same as Stephen Hawking's?
