when at the talbe menu where we can see all the tables and the ones not playing that are marked in red how about a one click option for automatically getting a substitute and possible being able to mark those that leave tournaments early so that cant be added.

just my two cents

I have seen Beta in this context several times, and I am not any wiser. Sorry for my ignorance, but would anyone care to tell me what a Beta version is? Is there also an Alpha version? All I know is that Alpha and Beta are the first 2 letters in the Greek alphabet (funnily enough!).

Alpha is the first attempt at new release of a program, usually tested by the programmers and perhaps a small subset of knowledgable users. The reason it is a small group is that it may have ugly warts and may crash and burn the computers it is installed on (of course NEVER FRED and UDAYs alpha versions). After you think you have a fairly stable release, or stable release, you give it to a wider number of users and let them use it to see if they uncover problems you didn't think about (mabye they have older operating systems, maybe there is conflict with some resident program, maybe they do things wiht the software the alpha testers would never consider so uncover bugs that were missed).

The test versions Fred post here would be "beta's"

Good summary, Ben, but I have to admit that from time to time I spring the occasional alpha release on my tolerant and resiliant friends who read forums :)

OMIGAWD!!!!! This new version is a TD's dream - if only it did nit allow the TD to have the option of not allowing to pick their own sub without the TD knowing about the replacement - it would be purrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect!

having been a beta tester for various software companies, some final release products are a continual beta test on the buyers.

Sometimes a beta tester is like a crash test dummy

But what is time consuming is always having to go check to see if there aer sitouts and red marked players, it would be nice if it could be automatically done ;)

Yes, Fred
thanks for the one click option and the TD pulldown for a player. It was getting so annoying with those chat windows that would always want to open when someone msg's that a player is gone.
