(4) ??
IMO Pass = 10, 5 = 9, Double = 8. The doubleton is a bit of a turn-off. If you play high-level doubles as "action" (Helene_t dubs them "blame transfers"), then double is a bit fraught but less so at MP than at imps.

Not at this vul. If we can make 5 we'll probably be in 6

5 is unlikely to be doubled, so might be a reasonable sac, might make. Don't love it, but preemptive, what can you do?

I'd pass with the death holding in spades.

Prefer Passing. But, one reason to bid 5C could be to prevent a 5 balance by partner holding 6 diamonds. For sure Partner will bid Diamonds if I perpetrate a Double.

If I pass and partner bids 5 on a 6 card suit I expect him to make it, possibly with an overtrick.

I hate letting the biddings end without me bidding on AKQ10xx, and I wouldn't let it this tiem either. 5 for me.

5C. I can see the colours too but so does LHO. If partner raises us to slam I'm actually not ashamed of my hand. And if LHO doubles and we only take 6 tricks, well, at least it's matchpoints. -500 would be annoying too of course but I don't think they get to double us that often. Idk
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Obvious pass, do we really expect partner to provide 4 tricks ? It would also be shameful that partner provide 4 tricks but we are still down because the Kh is not a trick, we lose a trump trick or a S ruff.

Kof C asking for count and switching the stiff D look like good defense potential too.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
