Is there no way to suggest 3 NT as a contract without getting North overly excited about its 9-count? As I recall, 2NT shows an undisclosed singleton and any bid at the 3 level is a long suit game try in spades.

3 bids are not really long suits, they just show some concentration. 3♣ is explained as 3+♣; ♣Q. Presumably, if you bid your best non-trump suit and it fits properly with partner, you could get to 3N.
But, given the explanation of your 3N bid, it's not at all clear how GIB differentiates this from a 2N opening that includes 5 spades.

Don't see why 3nt should show that much, and even if it did I don't think it really warrants Blackwood; 4♣ cue bid is the most North should do. South's distribution should be more constrained also, it just says 5- ♥ and 5-6 spades? Maybe it should be limited to 5332s and 18-21 HCP? And maybe North should employ Drury?

North counts his hand as 9 total points, because he doesn't take shortness points for Kx. If a simple raise shows 7-10 total points and GIB would have opened almost all hands with 12 total points, then he only bids Rev Drury with exactly 11 total points?
