GIB system so standard-ish leads.

Your lead GIB is crazy

I think the only thing I'd consider completely nuts here is 9♠ although I'm not fond of a diamond or 7♠, I'd prob lead Q♠ here.

Close, GIB led the ♣J. I thought it was remarkably idiotic. You expect E to have 2-3 clubs with a shaky stopper. If you're going for club bonanza, ♣8 and hoping for a return via Qxx seems to be your best shot.
I was wondering if I was resulting, looks like I was? Sitting opposite I had ♣ATxx and dummy had the doubleton ♣9, so ♣8 nets four club tricks and ♣H doesn't.

Not completely idiotic, when you say 2♣ is FG, is it also completely artificial, and what exactly is it ? I wasn't clear who had the stop. J gains opposite A9xx with Qxx in dummy.

It's GIB's system, so 2♣ doesn't promise anything. 2♦ denies 3 hearts, extra length in spades and a stopper in clubs.
I think with Qxx it would bid NT either instead of 2♣ or instead of 3♦.

K of C lead for me. A low C blocks the suit probably.

Q♠ gives nothing away; a club is speculative at best and the only lead to give away the contract at worst.
I am sure GiB led a club because, frankly (and I'm putting this mildly), its defense is indecipherably retarded.

I'm retarded too, then. This auction shows neither side was too happy about their club stopper. On a good day, their combined stopper is Txx opposite hope, at least in my club.

Didn't say leading a club was retarded. I said GiB's defense in general is. I said leading a club was speculative at best and could turn out extremely poorly.

A C lead is pretty well marked. The reason for not leading a low C is so as not to block the suit.

imo Leading club make sense but not at MP.
At mp i would choose the QS but even heart or diamond are better than club.
