Before internet age you had a suspicion there are lots of "not-so-smart" people on the planet. Now you even know their names.

If we're playing weak jump overcalls I'm bidding 2.

You could argue the hand is too weak, but there's plus points too - most of your points in spades, a singleton, and if opps play in hearts they will misguess the queen of hearts.

Here's why 2 is atrocious:

1. Your are r/w which is the high rent district for doubled penalties.

2. Your suit sucks. Not only are you missing the intermediate honors, but you have the Ace which is a trick. And you have the Q. Would you be at all surprised to go for 800 when 4 was being set? I wouldn't be.

3. Qxx is a terrible holding. It points to extra spade length in LHO.

Completely agree that 2 is atrocious at unfavorable. Have never tried a simple overcall out of fright, because I just had to do something and had way below the expected strength. But, maybe others have good experiences from doing that.

Pass for me, considered 1, 2 looks like out of space.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

I understand 2 in the sense that I know what might motivate someone to choose it. But it's still a completely terrible bid of course.
