Imps, world class partner and worldclass opponents.

Obvious double.
What crap is partner's T/O Dbl double minimum?
He has DT's or a long suit in a strong playing hand.
I suggest defending, maybe for a bonanza.
The tough question comes if partner bids 4S,5C. Do I slam try?
Nope. HAK is not promoting his long suit.

Pass, too much in hearts to think that we make a lot. If we double we will almost always play something instead of defending 4 going down.

I know I've been gone a while. Has lol gone out of fashion?

Most likely, no game makes, so I make the call most likely to lead to my defending 4H.

Once you step back and see that this is one of the most useless nine counts for offense ever, I think its a clear pass. Doubling certainly is getting partner to bid.

If this is one of the poker hands where we goad them into a 5 sac when we are r/w, I do not agree - we are looking at AK, so they'll have some defense.

Pass

saving x here for hands where our 9 count is outside
the opps longest and strongest suit has a much greater
probability of occuring. Not only that but the probable
imp gain from x = tox vs penalize with x is huge in
comparison to the tiny amount of imps we gain
from having our x = penalty.

If p x again we will happily pass expecting a huge
penalty. If p bids 4s I must admit I will probably
bid 5h since my hand rates to provide 2 quick tricks
with the weak hand on lead. Partner already knows we
dont have a tox of 4h and bid 4s anyway:)))))))))))

WTP pass, my hand is nothing special. I think ill be happy no matter what partner does next. Even in the very unlikely case where he bids 5D my hand wont be a disappointement. Imo there is a good chance we get a H lead so i dont consider my AK of H as purely defensive cards.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

Here is the full deal, West was Nickel, East Katz, South Zia and North Ahmady. Zia ruffed the A lead and smoothly played small scoring his K and discarded the last on diamonds and played x-ruff. After the hand he said "Great pass Ralph !" East replied "easy" North said "it is easy for you" East replied again " All i have is AK !, easy pass imo but thx "
