From #510 Robot Duplicate - Matchpoints 2011-08-09 Hand #2 South Played 3NT 19 times with result of NS +600 once and NS -200 18 times. Against the NS that was +600... at trick #4 West ducks the spade 10 lead by East. Yes, I understand Robots have a degree of "fuzzy" logic built in and will make different decisions faced with exact situations... but there must be at least some logic to whatever decision they make. Seems to me ducking the spade 10 at trick #4 has 0.000% logic one could present that would be towards a positive outcome for E-W.

Most of the tables that went down had a different auction: (3♦)-3NT-All Pass. Only windy21 had the same auction as kjag (which should show a much stronger hand), but the robots still managed to defend correctly at that table.
We've seen before where the robots fail to take the setting trick, the only guess I have is that they're greedy and think they might be able to set it another trick if they hold off. The difference between tables is due to using different hands in the simulations.

This West managed to overtake after the same auction, although some of the cards were played differently. I'm having a hard time figuring out how West could possibly think his side was getting other tricks, but I've often been told that I lack imagination.

Windy21 played the ♦8 on trick 2, kjag played the Q (after seeing 10 and J from West and Noth, South's cards are all equivalent). I'm not sure why this confused West. Maybe it thought that declarer has Q987 (although that makes South's double even MORE inexplicable), so it was leaving East on lead to cash the K.
