I'm also interested in the 3♣ bid. What would 2NT have shown instead?

When you play with the basic robots, you tend to get bad defense as well as bad declarer play at times, so you are much better off declaring. If these are the Advanced robots (and I doubt it), I think I would ask for a refund.

Yeah, 2nt seems better to me too. Maybe 3♣ is a kind of a fragment bid.
