IMPs, noone vulnerable, partner passes, RHO opens a weak 2.

3 clubs, good lead direction

if in fact partner has 5 spades and some values hr will speak

if he does not have 5 spades, you will get a nasty trump split, 4-1

count your blessings one by one

Pass.

Not a good enough hand to bid 3, and no other action is reasonable.

Partner knows that I will not act in direct seat over a preempt without a very good hand, and he will balance freely.

I smiled. But then, again, I sometimes need to remind myself what to lead.

3, would not have thought twice about it if it wasn't posed as a problem :)

3 seems dangerous to me, with little upside opposite a passed hand. RHO will not be joking in 2nd seat; LHO is unpassed and has a penalty double available.

3 for me too.

pass partner is already a passed hand so probability for a missed game is fairly low.

3C, game is still possible and I have a very good 5 card suit so I don't like passing at all.

This was the same hand posted on another problem. 3C has dangers, but I would bid it.

I would bid 3, but it would be hard to say that I'm a "real expert" with a straight face. :(

3 isn't safe but I'm going to bid it anyway. I'll bid it very confidently so that they don't double me.

Does it change anyone's mind if you are playing a strong club system with very light openers, so partner's white pass denies any hand with 10+ points, as well as any shapely hand with a good 9 or great 8 count?

That was true in the OP on the other thread.

I doubt it. The 3 bidders are pretty much the same ones who would open the hands to which you refer.

And it wouldn't change my mind, because I am already a passer and I don't have much of a mind to change.
