I bid 2N, I trust my partner's ability to bid on with a maximum. Not to mention this hand is pretty bad.

I might have passed 1NT if playing (14)15-17 as my range.

Not my job to bid what could be a very super thin game. I assume I can invite with 2NT so partner can raise if he has a good hand :)

What is wrong with an invite?

The absence of a heart fit, did not make the hand stronger.

I think with the cards in hand 3NT is slightly anti%age and 1NT is a clear pass NV at IMPS. If the J became the J then an invite would be justified especially V at IMPS

The only reason to bid 3NT is if partner will never ever pass here, so we box the opponents into making a more aggressive lead.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.
