I also find it too much of a distortion to open 2H. Either pass or 1H. I voted for 1H but I recognize the merits of pass.As a general principle, I don't much care for the idea that some hands with an adequate six card major are too strong for 2M and too weak for 1M. I prefer to bite the bullet and do one or the other. Perhaps this hand is the exception, but I open 1H.

System wasn't stated, but if playing typical 2/1 style where pard will GF with random crappy 12 counts, I don't think this can be a 1 opening.

Oddly, there is a very similar poll in beginner-intermediate (the hand there is xxx, AJTxxx, --, Axxx). That one is pretty evenly split between 1 and 2.

With a partner that understands, 1.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

I thought in 2/1 context, there was a perfect bid with random crappy 12 counts: 1NT forcing followed by 2NT alike.
