I think there are 20 total tricks so 5 could lose 200 (or 300 or 400 depending on what gets doubled), or it could win 420 (or 120 if we double them), or it could win 120 (or 420 if they don't double).

So I think it's close. I hope I can pass in tempo, if I can't I bid 5.

I have to pass here, as I am too flat and maybe they don't make.

5.

Good problem. Maybe both contracts are one down but a poor score could be unavoidable in that case anyway as they appear to have made the right decision and other pairs with their cards may not. It certainly looks like 5 will be right any time either side can make 11 tricks and that will occur fairly often. I would actually like to sit if partner doubles and bid if he passes but unfortunately don't have that option.

Abstain. Why did I pass last round! This should be partner's problem over 5 not mine.

Edit: Misread auction thought it was 2 overcall. Ok in this case I bid 5.

5S. I have anywhere from zero to 1/2 [possibly 1] defensive tricks and partner has advertised an offensive hand without knowing of my support and without letting me decide what to do over 4H. I think 5S is clear.

Wish I knew what minor RHO had lol. I would bid 5S, it just seems like a disaster to pass if RHO has diamonds.

I'd pass. Pard bid 4 under pressure and that might have been more based on hcp than spade length.

Why are you deciding this now instead of directly over 2 when you should have made your raise to 3? I guess to bid 5 and hope the K is well placed

I had passed first and would pass now. 3244 with "no" HCPS does not look like a raise to 5... Make it 3145 and I may think about it.

5. I'd like to defend if rho has clubs but I don't know so I think I've got to bid. And of course partner is bidding with spade length, otherwise if he is bidding based on hcp why isn't he doubling.

"No" was ambiguous? You have a hand which would stretch to bid 2S after a 2-level overcall. It has neither the shape nor the strength to volunteer at the 3-level. Partner is supposed to have some vague clue as to what your competitive bids show.

OK, so what would a double of the 2S bid show? Surely support?

Surely interest in defending and that you might want to double them.
