Abstain. Why did I pass last round! This should be partner's problem over 5 not mine.

Edit: Misread auction thought it was 2 overcall. Ok in this case I bid 5.

OK, so what would a double of the 2S bid show? Surely support?

3H=support lr+.
3s=stretch raise
double=less than 3 in sp, but stuff --cooperative to maybe penalize.
2NT=available for whatever you want it to mean.

Surely interest in defending and that you might want to double them.

That's the classic meaning but not the only possible treatment. I have sworn to support doubles after 1M-(2M) for some time. It gives us increased precision when we have a fit, and I think frequency makes this treatment better.

I'm assuming partner did not bid 4 on a whim.

Put me down for 5.
Is the word "pass" not in your vocabulary?

Partner may already have been bidding your cards when he bid 4. He assumes the opponents don't have a bunch of spades when they're bidding like this, so he's counting on you to fill out his suit. And then he may be hoping you have a fit for his minor suit.

You have everything he was hoping for, but no more. And as others have pointed out, he may have been stretching in his 4 bid. If you stretch any more, something's likely to break.

"No" was ambiguous? You have a hand which would stretch to bid 2S after a 2-level overcall.  It has neither the shape nor the strength to volunteer at the 3-level.  Partner is supposed to have some vague clue as to what your competitive bids show.

hey this hand fits my definition of a constructive raise :D and that is all I promise when I bid over their michaels call. Consequently IMO this is a mandatory 2 call even if you are playing F1NT or semi F1NT.

and No was ambiguous because did it mean the K was badly placed or that you objected to a 5 call

Or he may have like AJxxxxx x x AQTx which is not exactly the nuts and 5S and 5H are both cold, all of this being consistent with RHO having a big 2 suiter.
