I would run. FWIW I am a complete fish in these situations whenever I run I seem to be cold.

indy, you don't know your partner much (but this is live bridge and people had to pay for entry). it's MP.
all white: xxxx x xxxx xxxx
1-p-p-4
x-p-?
----------------------------------------------
all red: Kxx x xx AQxxxxx
(2)-?
would you do something else when favorable or something?
IMO
  • 4 = 10. 5 = 7, _P = 6, 4N = 4.
If 4 is doubled, I would pass but I hope that partner would remove to 4N or even 5 with
    AK x AKQxxx QJxx
  • _P = 10, 3 = 7.

Does partner's double promise near 4DT bal or could be 6D4S?

4S too big a chance for 4H-X making. Besides they bid 5H, HAH.

And 3C always.

partner had

Axxx
Kx
AQxxx
xx

do you think she should have doubled?

anyway if you run to 4 I think LHO wouldn't double us but at least we make and get a good result
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

With the second hand, I'd have removed 3NT to 4 one round earlier. Whilst partner might have a heart stop, a diamond stop, a club card and a spade bolster, it doesn't seem particularly likely. I don't like relying on the opponents to get us to the right spot.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn
