I think it is 26, 9 HCP, 3 controls, 2*5 = 10, 5-1 = 4 for a total of 26. And maybe you get a bonus point if all your HCP are in your two longest suits too? Anyway, clear opener for partnerships that use Zar count.

K&R says (AQT9x x KT8xx 8x) = 13.75 (which is a lot higher than some of my opening bids).

This is a style issue, so just do whatever you feel comfortable.

I think I would open in first position if not vulnerable. Not in second.

I finf it funny that this hand is IMO all about your agreemnets, as oposed to the other hand ♠x♥x♦A10xxx♣AQ10xxx, wich has very very little to do with your agreements and style (Except maybe for opening the higher suit).
