No - but I would overcall over a strong NT !!

Overcalling works when partner is balanced (therefore a fit) or has a big H fit (4 cards will do very nicely) and we do not overbid...and very badly when he gets either my strength or the lead wrong (yeah T high suit just screamed for the lead....from KJ).

Hence I would not overcall over 1natural C directly (but might pre-balance) and certainly WOULD overcall a strong NT where I can show shape and partner will not expect a strong HCP hand...

I don't, overcalling is taking a good idea way too far. We have shape, but our suit is terrible, and our hand is quite bad.

I prefer not. The point is I have supports for all unbid suits. IF pd can show his suit, I will be very happy to raise. However, bidding a suit and then raising pd's suit should show a better hand.

Meckstroth overcalled and bought a 4H raise, which was doubled and made.

At the other table Grue opened an offshape 1NT on a 13 count with 6C, which made a 2H overcall less palatable. They played in 4S 1 off

I'm not sure "good" is the right word to describe that kind of day. It would definitely require some adjective though!

I pass but its fairly close. Some arguments for passing:

Do I want a heart lead against a suit? No.

Do I want a heart lead against NT? Possibly, but if pard chooses a spade or a diamond, I'll be glad I didn't overcall.

If I compete, will it be productive? Hard to tell, but its hard to believe that we don't have something if pard can't come in.

To the overcallers, would you still come in without the pointed Jacks? The heart 10? I'm wondering where you would draw the line.
