Scoring: IMP

Sitting south, do you balance holding above hand in following bidding?

Would overcalled on the 1st round with 1 (sorry Josh).

Would have definitely doubled 2.

Not really sure what I would do now, but I feel kind of screwed.

i try 1s over 1c.....but if pass..then x... over 2c....now ....pass.

In other words...bid first round..if forced to pass bid second round...if forced to pass then pass third round.

Would have overcalled 1, but prefer 1 by a mile over pass.

Could be a S4-3+ fit scored; or D5-3. Now hope 2+DT and partner marked with 'his share', he has 1+DT for 100 or 200.

Obvious to bid over 1, and for me 1 is much more attractive than 1. (At MP's 1 would have had a bid more appeal.)

I even prefer double of 2 to balancing now.

As it is I pass. Bidding a suit is quite dangerous, and a would fear partner would interpret a double as penalty. (He is short in clubs, and I Didn't double 2.)

Edit: 1 would also have a bit more appeal. :)

1D overcall fine with me. Kinda it's now or never situation. Like in wedding ceremonies they say : speak now or keep silence till eternity.
3rd round? Pass. Sorry I cannot get worried abt for partner's 7-8 hcp good or bad placed. I think th train missed "twice" already. Moreover I believe our best chance is to try a defense line max. 22-18 HCP. If it's 21-19 I may appreciate for Xmas day :)

If you happened to sort your hand wrong and pass over 1C then why on earth wouldn't you X 2C?

Partner might interpret this as a stronger hand with 4-4. I'd still double though.

Like others, I would've overcalled on the 1st round. If I somehow bizarrely didn't, I would X 2C. Pass and Pass is just lol.

Seems no one would balance because they all would have bid previously. If you should happen to have passed 1C it is hard to imagine why you would pass 2C.

Yeh lol, I would have overcalled 1 and wouldn't dream of balancing now I'm afraid.

If you can pass this hand twice, you can pass it three times. 1 vs. 1 on the first round is the only decision--both have their good and bad points, but you must pick one or the other, passing 1 can't be right. You must intervene at the one level where it is safe, not the three level where you are taking your life in your hands. Opponents may well have only 8 between them. If so, bidding is right only if you find a 9 card fit and then only some of the time. What are the chances of that?

oh and fwiw a double now is penalty in my book. There's no such thing as a takeout double at this point when you've already failed to bid twice.

Clear-cut to act earlier.

If I were to take over from this point, I would try 3. If partner has the right hand, we could have a million tricks in diamonds.
We could belong in spades, but unfortunately we are now in a guessing position.

Obvious 1 overcall.

Won't balance now, double would be penalties for me.
Kind regards,
Harald
