3♦ denies 4 hearts since if you have them you should bid 2♥ instead. And yet, I can not think of a single reason to follow that rule on this hand (ok a slight exaggeration). 3♦ it is.

If he have a fit in ♥ we won't find it, if I don't bid them now.
If we don't have a fit in a major, we would usually prefer to play 3NT.
Bidding ♥ now should make it harder for opps to lead ♥.

So I will try 2♥.

3D seems right here, It is not worth reversing into a poor suit. Ocassionally I am happy to mis our 4-4 maj fit.

Part of the reason I posted this hand was to determine if one could assume a balanced or semi-balanced shape for the jump rebid. Obviously not.

If anything, I think the jump rebid would tend to be *un*balanced, as the balanced hand can just bid a "gambling" 3N.

Rarely is the suit solid and thus this bid would be infrequent.

2H WTP Its surely possible that 4H in a 4/4 fit is a worse contract then 3Nt but i see no reason to bypass a possible H fit when i have a void in my hand. Also even if partner doesnt have a H stopper 3Nt may easily be the only spot.

2H isnt GF and doesnt guarantee a 4 card suit.

I'll try 3d.....should partner respond 3h I will bid 4h.
I agree with others that 3d implies an unbalanced hand but also note a jump rebid of 3 of a minor can have a pretty wide range.

side note if we are playing "reverse flannery" this makes partner having 4 hearts much less likely unless she has a good hand.

If partner can bid 2NT as a weak call after 2♥, such that 2♥ can be slightly weaker than otherwise, I kind of like 2♥. A lot of good things may happen. If partner rebids 2NT, we will stop at 3♦ (probably). I think 4♥ might also be a decent contract. Furthermore, if 3NT it is, then I prefer partner playing 3NT.

If 2NT as weak is not available, then 3♦ seems like the least evil.
