For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

However, 2H is unilateral and fails to find the good 4/3, 5/3, or 6/3 spade fit when that is right, and eliminates 1N x'd if RHO is out fooling around.
And although there could be game our way, this is unlikely and not the most important reason to bid - the reasons are the implied even division of the HCP becasue of the NT bid by RHO and the implied major-suit fit also implied by the 1NT bid of RHO.

KQ743 does not constitute "having 'em".
KQ1097 is "having 'em".
However, if you pretend you really do "have 'em" with a 2H bid, you get to practice playing 2H down-a-zillion instead of the sane 2S making when partner tables Jxxxx, xx, xxx, Axx

Let's please not start down the example hand route on this. Partner can have a million things. It's not like OMG there is a hand where spades is better so we should double!

I am not sure how you can basically call two people idiots for asking bridge-related questions and then post this. Do you think partner is sitting for 1NTx when we have this good a hand? Maybe partner has 6 spades and passed over 1♦, or maybe partner has THREE HEARTS.

We are all connected to each other biologically, to the Earth chemically, and to the rest of the universe atomically.
We're in the universe, and the universe is in us.

Awesome means you're gonna miss game when either your a little lucky or partner has anything, and you might miss slam if the opponents are bidding with less than usual.
