    • If you judge that LHO has 1, 3 or 5 then lead a small
hoping an opponent has singleton K Q or T
    • If you judge that LHO has 2 or 4 then play A and another.
playing LHO for KQ or KT or QT or a mistake
Ideally, in this latter case, you might have cashed A earlier, to make an unblock less obvious.
Other lines are possible, depending on opponents carding, and how much you trust their carding.

4 means at least 7 cards good ,at most one loser in ,at most one A or k in side suits,8-9 winner.
1.ruff ,east 2
2.9 ,E/W 1-1
3. ruff, west 9,east5
if u play A,west void.

Presumably West is 7=5=1=0 without the K, so we can discard a club on the Q and another on the 5th heart, endplaying West at the same time to give us a ruff/sluff and dispose of our last club. All will become clear once the K drops on the 3rd round. So:

ruff
9 (all follow)
ruff
K
ruff - King drops from East

The hand is now a complete countout, so cash the black aces, ruff a spade, cash the Q pitching a club, and pitch another club on the last heart.

It's great route. But,unluckly, east have five cards .If u'r careful,u can see west played 9 at second ruff .If east's is K52,then west is AJT96,he always play 6.Of course,9 is same with 6 .Last reply very closed the right answer.

A at trick 2. Gotta make it toughest for west to figure out to unblock with Kx or Qx.

Edit - I see my nice line of CA at trick 2 is ruffed. Nice!

The opponents would definitely have gotten me with that double of 6. Is it supposed to be a lead directing double from the player who is going to be on lead? Is it just a psychic double in case opponents try to play there so they misguess clubs? It just seems really bizarre.

nige1,i think u are a great player, because u just spent half a hour to find the right way.But ,u have made a mistake in your this reply.if the hand of west like this.

the right play is:
1.ruff
2.k
3.ruff
4.A
5.ruff
6.ruff
7.all small
Because need dummy ruff three times, one, two .so ,u can just clear one round thrump.
By the way,if singleton is 10,there is another route to make it .play J pinning 10,then finesse avoid K(or Q).

Thank you Zhams. A better player or a player who had more time for analysis would cover more play possibilities than I did. Your initial problem statement gave us no clue as to
  • Why LHO would bid an undisciplined 5?
  • Why LHO doubled 6?
  • Why LHO would lead A without K when a safe was available?
  • How many trumps LHO had?
If West has singleton T or doubleton KT, QT or KQ-- and you guess right -- then you make even after drawing 2 rounds of trumps. You lead a small . Later you ruff a and guess the -- on a good day :)

This hand appeared in one of chinese national match.the dealer of 6 was a chinese famouse player ever be a membe of national team.Because of no enough time to think,6 down 1.I was a spector.I felt it can be made.so i recorded it ,think it .I don't know the means of bids all too. But i can explain some of them.
first , LHO double 6,maybe he want partner back c,give him a ruf,if partner can entry.
second ,west first lead A,maybe afraid dealer ,void , singleton, and dummy have A ,lead let dealer discard .He didn't think to dealer void.
last,i note the 4 open is namyats and give a reply, but u don't pay attention to it enough.it's means west's suits is impossible be KQ or K10,because at most one A or K can be in side suits.

Fair enough Zhams. It is an interesting deal. And your arguments make a lot of sense.

When split 1-1, I prefer your 2nd line to my original guess. I assumed that LHO was dealt AK -- a holding that you told us is impossible.

In the match context, at single dummy, I still prefer your 2nd line, most of the time -- even if LHO drops 9 when the 2nd is ruffed. An expert may well find that play from A9x. It can fool only declarer because RHO already knows the position.

I think the best play of my first line is like this:ruff,K,ruff,A.It fit next several hands of west:
1.fact hand;
2.KQJ10986X AJ(10)9 8 X(anyone)
3.KQJ10XXXX A9 8 QX
4.louisg's 7=5=1=0 hand.
if void,he must judge west hand is 1 or 4;
others he must judge 2 or 3,2 play in first line ,3 play in second line.continue A,if east big than 4,play in second line,or guess.
