5C may be too expensive, so i just bid 4C.
From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

The problem with 3NT is that it could go for 450 but I'd still go for it.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

I like 3N with this hand because we have enough points that it might work (if the opps have split HCP).

well, I don't like 3NT. if they double and we run to 4 we have supposedly invited partner to sacrifice, something I wouldn't want to do.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Bidding 3N might prove to be a winner, but I sort of doubt it will. Yet I am willing to give it a whirl and hope it may create some confusion. I would not be surprised the opps could have a slam.

If they dble 3N and I run to 4C I do not at all agree it invites partner to save.

1st seat white at MP, partner might already have gotten creative, so I just pass and hope the opponents misjudge or get back to the normal result.

If I'm playing with a straight arrow partner, I might try 3S or 3N.

With regular partners, I usually play that 3N followed by 4m invites opener to sacrifice, but I would not expect that to be the case without discussion.

I don't like this agreement at all.

Bidding 3NT over partner's preempt is very useful. I like to be able to do this when I am very confident that 3NT is making, when I think it has a good chance, when it might make, when it probably won't make, and when I am very sure it won't make - i.e. on a wide range of hands, a continuous range if you like.

It is not always easy for the opponents to know when it is actually their hand.

If I am only allowed to bid 3NT when I am either strong enough to sit 3NTX, or very weak and with a hand suitable for saving at the 5 level, then I have lost a significant number of opportunities to make life difficult for the opponents.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Pard had xx Qxx Ax A9xxxx. Pretty bizarre preempt.

I also bid 3N and was -150. I felt they were a lock for 4 opposite a typical preempt, but this hand just has a slew of losers and 5 looks too expensive.

4 IMO should be a hand that knows what to do over 4M. 3N is more 'consultative', if it pulls.

Hi,

I would go with 4C, which just increases the
preempt.

If they had already moved, 4C would invite
a sac, since they did not move yet, 4C is no
request to sac.

With kind regards
