I played second hand. Opponent passed. I had 15 HCP, 5 S, 6H, 2C and void in D.
Should i open with H or S?
My partner bid 2 D afer opponents overcall. How should I rebid?

Open 1♥, planning to rebid 2♠.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

For me, opening it 1H or 1S really depends on what my suits look like.

If your hand is strong enough to reverse, start with the 6-card. I think 15 points will generally suffice.

The weaker hands are difficult to bid. I would open 1♠ then unless the hearts are much better than the spades. If I open 1♥ with a hand too weak to reverse, I would have to rebid 2♥.

For me it doesn't. AKQJT 765432 AJ void = obvious 1♥ opener.

Lying about having a 6-card minor is silly. Lying about a 6-card major is inexcusable.

In fact, any opening hand with 5♠-6♥ I open with 1♥.

Only open 1H with 6H if your hand is good enough to reverse. 15 seems a bit light. I would open 1S.

Agree with only 1♥ if strong enough to reverse. Completely disagree that 15 is not enough with that shape, in fact 14 probably is and sometimes even less. So 1♥.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Well I guess it depends on the 15 count, doesn't it? There are 15 counts and 15 counts eg stiff hons etc.

Most 5-6-0-2 15 HCP hands would qualify as a reverse to me, so unless there's some defect like maybe QJ dub in ♣, I'd likely open 1♥ and reverse 2♠.

It would be nice if the OP had shown the actual hand in question.

Agree that there are 15 counts and 15 counts. Most 5-6-0-2 shapes do not have stiff honors though so it would be difficult to find a 15-count not good enough to reverse. I agree with jdonn, most 14-counts would also reverse with this shape.

Some (Garozzo?) play that 1H-1NT-3S shows a minimal 5-6 hand (about 10-13) so that you won't have much trouble opening your longest suit with this shape. Of couse, rogerclee thinks that that is really dumb. :P
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Can't you have a stiff D void? :D
