Scoring: IMP

So this is a real team game. Last game of the league. You are currently first, facing the second placed team.

The bidding proceeds:

East You West North
2 pass 2 pass
2 pass pass pass

2 Diamond was Multi, 2 Heart pass/correct 2 Spade weak with spades.

Are you happy with your bidding?
Or had you introduced you Diamonds on your first or second opportunity?
Kind Regards

Roland

I have introduced my diamonds on my first occasion, 3.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I acted immediately over 2D, either 3D or double depending on what double would have meant.

Not even close to happy. We've sold out to 2 when we have a possible 3N.

I'm finding some call at my first opportunity - either double or 3.

I'm really liking a direct 3. Just right on values, a nice suit, keeps opps from finding their major suit easily. Gets your hand off your chest right away and puts partner in the driving seat. What's the problem?

I'd make a direct 3 overcall - this doesn't show much values in our methods (2 would show a strong overcall).
Kind regards,

No I don't feel good. My stomach must be hurting really badly, or maybe I forgot to put in my contact lenses, otherwise I wouldn't have passed in the first round.

I'd have shown diamonds at my first call.

Would have bid 3D.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Not happy selling out to 2S. I would bid 3D first round

Double or 3 the first time.

We play Double shows a decent weak NT hand or a flexible minor suit overcall. This hand is more like an immediate 3 but it is getting close to double.

I disagree with an initial pass but don't dislike it as much as everyone else seems to. Anyway, the hand is surely worth 3 on the second round.

I don't understand passing here at all.
Of course I overcall 3 originally.

If I am called in to substitute in the middle of the auction because the person who held this hand was taken away unconscious - hence explaining the initial pass - then I bid 3 on the second round.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

Passing the first time is fine on this auction.

When it really hurts is when the bidding comes back to you at the 3-level:

2 Pass 3* Pass
Pass/3 Pass ...

* Pass or correct.

This happens but not as often as over some other nebulous pre-empts like Ekrens etc. Sitting around with a decent hand just doesn't seem to work.

Well you had been happy with passing after the event. :)

The obvious 3 call earned me -800, pass had reduced it to - 140.

I am not as sure as all of you that passing is so bad.
If pd has enough for game, he will find a bid in the passout seat.

And if we just compete for the partial, it may not be worth the risk?
(okay, you don´t often find partner with Jx, AJxx,void, Jxxxxx opposite your 3 Diamond bid)
Kind Regards

Was the pass over 2 forcing showing s? Haha. I see no other reason to pass over 2.You dont even have to bid 3 directly. You can even x 2 to show s.

Pass first round then bid 3D in passout seat - an immediate 3D shouldnt be a minimum hand imho.
