Unless partner is inclined to bid 2NT without stoppers in the opponent's known suits, I bid 3NT.

We have more than a minimum opening so we should bid game.
3♦ would show the same sort of hand only weaker and not forcing.
Therefore 3NT is clear.
I guess someone might play some fancy gadget to show the spade shortage in case partner has ♠ Axx and no ♦ A in which case 5♦ could be better.

vs a natural invitational 2NT I can see now reason not to raise to 3NT. This rates to be our best game, whereas 5♦ can be off 3 top tricks.

I would bid 3H and let partner judge what to do. You are giving away info about the lead this way, but they are probably always leading a spade and a heart wont be fatal usually given that partner has a stopper as well. I think 5D could easily be the right spot so I want to let pard into the game.

3. what about clubs does 2nt sugest stop in clubs too?

I didnt like ♠x for nt so bid 3♦, partner passed. The other table were in 3nt -1 on a ♠ lead.
Lucky us, I'm not saying the bidding was right - which is why I posted it.

5D actually has pretty decent play on this hand given the michaels.
