LHO opens 3, RHO raises to 5. We are favorable. What's your plan?

Is this IMPs or matchpoints?

5

My usual action on these hands is to double (not takeout), and then pass if partner bid 5. Not my style to bid 5/5 on these hands, but I have seen that approach work too.
At this vulnerability only, though, 5 seems a happy compromise between believing my vulnerable opponents, and perhaps making a contract.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

team match. opps are good players who bid 5C confidently

Dbl seems clear but not sure what to do over 5. I tend to pass.

We need a reasonable amount from partner to go plus from bidding.

5 is wrong most of the time when we cannot make eleven tricks.

Double will make it very hard to get to 5 when that is right.

I think this is very close between two bad alternatives or maybe even a third - PASS.

Double is most flexible so I do that and panic later if partner bids 5 but that should be based on a long suit.

I like 5H at these colors depending on opps (other option being X).

I don't have any strong preference for 5 or x. I'd probably bid 5; would not be surprised if this is a good sacrifice :). If I double and partner bids 5, I would bid 5.

This is funny, since my initial reaction was "X, wtp?"

This is of course another advantage of bidding at these colours.

Double. Not 5H, which is far too unilateral.

A unilateral 5.

X and if partner bid 5D, i bid 5H. A direct 5H is a close 2nd.

5H.

If you double, you will play it, at least
most of the time.

I'm doubling and am pretty sure it's the correct bid with this hand.

However, on the actual deal 5 might be the winner. I'll still go with the odds.
Kind regards,

Scoring: IMP

One table was

3-p-5-5
p-p-x-end

The other was

p-p-1NT-2
3(90% signoff)-p-p-X
p-4-x-end

+690 for the good guys
