First hand at any scoring or colors. Of course, partner will respond 1 to whatever you open, creating rebid issues.

Do you a) Open 1 then rebid 2

 Open1 then rebid 2

c) Open 1

If you think the hand isn't good enough for option b, how much more would you need either in distribution or high cards?

Thanks to all!!

1C-2C, right on the border though maybe with a doubleton spade 1C 2H is fine.

1-2. Give me the Q and I'd bid 1-2.
Kind regards,

1 2
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

1 2 looks good. Partner is almost sure to bid again then I can show my surprise. If the auction looked to be more competitive I would reverse instead, like 1 P 1 1 ?

1 2 borderline of course but I really like my hand and still have three chances for a fit- at least a 5-2 fit.

If we play walsh, I would change my approach. I don´t believe that we can handle 1 1 2 2 in this case well, so I better open 1 Heart.
Kind Regards

Roland

I almost always open my longest suit with these hands. Having said that I understand those that would prefer to open the major. Occasionally I will make an exception with touching suits or if there is a disparity between the suit qualities with the shorter suit being much stronger.

I also am willing to reverse into the major with marginal values. With all of the honours in the long suits this hand is getting close but just a little short of the values I would usually like for a reverse - another useful queen and i would definitely reverse. Even change my jack for a queen and I would probably be willing to reverse.

Hi,

I would open 1C, and depending on mood,
the sun and the stars, would either rebid
2C or 2H. My regular partner would always
rebid 2H.

If you replace the J with the Q, I would certainly
open 1C followed by a 2H bid, not sure if this
would be my min. req.

With kind regards
Marlowe
