bonus question: which is the highest level where you'd bid hearts over spades (e.g. "I'd bid 2♥ over 1♠ but not 3♥ over 2♠) ?

Very uncomfortable.

I feel fine up to 3♥ over 2♠. 4♥ over 3♠ is pushing the envelope. I guess I would bid 4♥ on most days, but I am sure that there are others when I would choose a pass.

Clearly, if one decides that this is worth a 4♥ bid, it is on the lowest of the low edge.

I think the main benefit from overcalling 4♥ here is finding a save when LHO bids 4♠.
If LHO passes and we have a game partner will often be able to bid or double.
I don't hate a 4♥ overcall, but I do prefer pass.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

I have no problem with 4♥. I just tell people to remember hands like this when it goes (3♠) 4♥ (p) to them and they are holding what they think is a slam try....

This is a spot where you have to grit your teeth and bid. Not much else about it. It sucks but you have to.

I pass. If you bid 4♥ this light, how can P ever know what to do after LHO bids 4S? Or if LHO passes, how can P ever know whether to make a slam try? But it's very close, even the 10 ♥ might convince me to change my mind.

I'd bid 3♥ over 2♠. :D

3♥ over 2♠ no problem, I think Justin is right you just have to bid over 3♠ as well. You would expect partner to have something, and he don't need that much for game to be ok. From time to time you might be unlucky and get butchered, but overtime I think bidding 4♥ is better.

I guess I'm the dreaded overoverbidder.

I would bid 5♥ over 4♠ without a qualm. This may simply be an indicator of how bad my opponents are, since I'd expect to hear 5♠ by LHO over half the time.

I would not expect to be saved by a 5♠ very often. Quite rarely, actually.
