Hi Fred

After one of the previous versions was releases, I reported it wasn't possible to log in with a username containing a whitespace.
This still doesn't seem to be fixed. When I try to log in, the program shows some error messages. Maybe you looked over it last time, so I'll report it again.

Thanks. I must have missed your last post on this subject.

I will fix this (soon I hope).

BTW, back when I was still accessing BBO through BBOWIN, I bought Larry Cohen's Life Master Pairs lessons... are there any plans to make this content available via BBOFLASH? Just wondering, I don't necessarily want this to be done before such important features as barometer scoring or actually organising a team match are implemented. :(

Yes there are plans to support this, but they are long term plans.

Thanks to everyone who tried running BBOFLASH under IE6.

I was able to dig out an old PC and try it myself. The only problem I had was getting Flash to install properly in the first place. Once I did BBOFLASH worked just fine.

So I doubt if IE6 is the culprit here.

For those of you who get the empty blue screen, have you been able to get BBOTV to work? If you have not tried that program you can access it through:

link to BBOTV

I have tried BBOTV many times (it was the previous version, I think) and everything was OK. But now something is wrong, because I get: Loading. Please wait..., and a blank blue screen :(

There is a new version of BBOFLASH available now. Whether or not you automatically get the new version is at least partly a function of your browser settings. You can ensure you get the new version by clearing your browser's cache before you go to the BBOFLASH launch page.

The main purpose of this new version was to fix some of the bugs that have been reported during the past few days, but I also added an option to turn off card animation which somebody requested.

In particular the + sign in convention card problem is fixed and user IDs that contain spaces should work fine now.

While I remember, if BillHiggin is reading this can you please let me know if the new red color is better for you? It is likely that many of the colors will change before too long, but in the mean time I am hoping that the new red makes life easier for people who are colorblind.

I still don't know why some people are getting stuck with the blue screen after "Loading...". Maybe clearing your cache before you try the latest will help.

Something strange is going on because we have not changed the BBOTV program in at least a month and apparently during that time it has somehow stopped working on Gabor's PC.

I am trying to figure out what is going on, but this is difficult since I cannot replicate the problem on any of my PCs. I am sure I will work it out eventually. In the mean time, sorry to everyone who has experienced this problem - as far as I can tell this is happening on only a small % of PCs.

I have to go to San Francisco for 2 weeks starting tomorrow and I am unlikely to have time to do much in the way of real work while I am away. I will try to read this thread and fix any bugs that are reported, but don't expect any dramatic new versions in the near future.

Thanks again to everyone for their help with testing and the (mostly) enthusiastic response that BBOFLASH has generated.

Thanks Bill :)

For those of you who do not see the application once "loading..." is complete, I am sorry to tell you that I still have no idea what is going on and it is unlikely I willl be able to spend much time on this during the next 2 weeks.

Of course this is a problem we are going to have to fix and we will try to do so as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Ran it under both Windows XP Pro, Ubuntu 7.10, and Leopard - not one issue. For what it's worth, Leopard is a fresh installation and not an archive and install.

The colors appear more vibrant to me and that is a plus. The latency is minimal, and the interface is rich but not overwhelming.

Overall, a positive and large step forward to full functionality I feel.

I like to click on people's names to have a look at their profile, without the least thought of chatting to them. Unfortunately, this causes the drop-down list of "potential chat targets" to grow and grow, and it takes ever longer to get back to "-> Table" or "-> Kibitzers". I will propose three solutions:

- Only add people to the drop-down list once I've actually typed in their name. OK, this is more for people like me who spend at least 10 times as much time typing as pushing the mouse around... ;)
- Add a "Chat" button somewhere to the player information area.
- Add two small buttons to the left of the chat target drop-down, a "T" for selecting "-> Table" and a "K" for selecting "-> Kibitzers".

Another small annoyance... yesterday I organized a game with two friends and a partner of one of these friends, the latter opened up a table with no kibitzers allowed... I had to beg her to allow kibitzers or reserve a seat for me before I could get to the game. I will propose zero solutions to this problem because I can't think of any good ones just now. ;)

When you finish a team game with BAM scoring and try to view the score in "My Results" it does not display correctly.

There also seems to be a problem with claiming if someone plays to a trick after you claim.

But otherwise things seem good. I won't need to emulate a PC on my Mac anymore!

Does anyone else find the screen too cluttered now? Unless I make the window really wide, the row of buttons at the top runs into the number of members and tables; sometimes it overlaps it, other times it pushes it off the right. And when clicking on a player, it no longer displays their location in multiple rows; so I either need to make the whole window, or that section, very wide to avoid cutting off the end. Do we really need "My" in all the buttons? Who else's account are we going to look at? And "My Results" isn't even correct -- when you're kibitzing, it's someone else's results.

Unable to use F6 key to clear the chat in BBO flash.
I like the use of the F6 key to clear the chat in regular BBO program because it is quicker. It gets cluttered in the screen of too many chat lines.
BBO flash takes longer time, because of the use of the mouse to pin point the line.

Hi!

Played two torunaments with BBOFLASH today. Worked nice and faaast om my MAC+Safari.

A coupple of suggestions:

When playing in tournaments, Chat default should go to table

Impossible to se my own table-number when playing in tournament.

Not possible to see all online players from my own country.

I used the flash client again on my Mac with safari yesterday- a couple of thoughts...

1) When watching a team game it seems impossible to see the current score.

2) Having to click on 'myhands' to see the results of other table in the MBC is counter-intuitive I think, especially if one is only kibbing.

3) When playing in the MBC you can't see the score for the last hand, merely the total.

4) Having NSEW in the bidding area is a backwards step from the PC interface imho.

5) The chat interface needs a lot of work. It is far too easy to click on someone to see their profile and then accidentally chat to them. Moreover reselecting chat to table / chat to kibs is irksome, especially as a slow computer such as mine seems to take an age drawing menus in flash.

6) I'm getting used to "Table ->" now, although it still seems unnecessary.

This business with the convention cards is very annoying.

With one of my favorite partners (Elianna) I made the mistake of loading the SAYC card. We play something close to SAYC, so I figured I'd be able to modify the card to reflect the conventions we've added.

Unfortunately, this seems to be impossible.

Oh well, I figured, I'll just get rid of the card. Most of the time we play with friends in team games and at tables, and they won't mind if we don't have a CC (especially since our methods are close to standard).

Unfortunately, this also seems to be impossible. Whenever Elianna and I sit down to play, the SAYC full disclosure card is automatically loaded. This card automatically alerts some of our calls and explains them in a manner which isn't even correct for SAYC, much less for our actual agreements. While most of our friends wouldn't mind if we had no CC at the table, it does bother them that we have this Full Disclosure card which constantly alerts our natural bids and provides misinformation!

Is there any way to get rid of "favorite convention cards" and go back to "no CC" or a custom CC of the old-fashioned (non-FD) variety?
