4D, reluctantly. I can't pass with this hand. Another diamond and I bid 5.

Yep. I agree that this sucks.

I'm really close to a pass, though. Partner must have a void, and he's going to be hard to silence, unless he has utter trash, which is possible.

But, I'm up for 4♦ opposite a 0445 8-count. Let's go!
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

Double - responsive. Denies 4 hearts.

Pass, if p has the value to bid and make 5♦ he probably also has the values to double again. Then I'm happy to defend 3♠X.

Well, I'm not going to let them play 3♠X, so I'm bidding 4♦ now.

I passed, which seems wrong in retrospect. Pard had a 0454 13 or 14 count. I'm not sure why he chose to throw it in, but we got +100 with 5♦ cold.
