71 and change playing EHAA at a sectional.
28 and change when both of the pair were up all night (me with an assignment, her with a sick grandchild) and both of us would have cancelled if we could have reached the other. It actually was kind of fun, once we realized we weren't going to be coherent.

I had a 7-table team game at my club, 6x5 board matches. Not only did the team that won win every match, they went 132-2. The two IMPS they gave up were two overtricks in one match - so they blanked the other 5 teams. And they weren't clearly the best team in the field.

I was reminded of this 2 weeks ago when I saw my then "pick-up partner" for about the first time in 20 years.
At the Sydney University Bridge Club in my/our first month at university: yes we had a top - not merely a shared top- on EVERY board in (I was informed) a 24 board game to record 100%!!

My partner was Barbara Gill (now Travis) and a very frequent Australian Women's representative. Apparently (according to Barbara who supplied the information) it has been recorded/commemorated as some kind of record and features in a book of Zia's!!

Not really so much credit is applicable because although there were some very good players who were members of the club-but they were not playing that day.

I know I will never have another set close to that score!! Should have given up bridge there and then, thereby saving everyone concerned considerable anguish...

Closest I have come to playing standard in three decades.....

regards

but if you want to get a huge score in that sort of event you have to find the right club to play in

How easy! In my country there is only one game of those. Bummer.

Besides playing for fun, most people also like to play bridge to win

The best score I ever had in a game that mattered was 72% in the second session of a Flight A Regional Open Pairs.

In the first session, my partner and I were having a miserable game. In the last three rounds, we scored about 85% to get back to over average - about 51%. At the break, a list of the top 60 scores in the event was posted. We were not on it.

In the evening session, everything went right. On the last hand, an opponent bid 7NT needing to find a queen. Needless to say, she was unsuccessful.

Our 72% score in the evening session gave us the event by 1 1/2 boards.
