Best Game?

Harv and I played yesterday in the STAC at Dana Point and racked up a 72.3%, which is my best. http://www.thewesternconference.com/stac/S...g07/THUEaft.htm
The STAC takes place across the western US. A score in the low 70's is usually enough to win. This time it was 4th! 4 scores in the 72's; naturally 5th place was 66% LOL.
We really didn't do anything brilliant; nailed our opponents a few times and accepted their gifts graciously. We were fixed once on Board 19 when our opponents bid a thin 4♠: http://www.thewesternconference.com/stac/S...nds/thuaftm.pdf that the field stayed out of.

I once got the best British score in the worldwide simultaneous with about 73%, but if you want to get a huge score in that sort of event you have to find the right club to play in

However my clear best achievement in a session of pairs was at the Reno regional once, after having not slept for over 50 hours due to plane difficulties having a 71% pair session with Kevin Bathurst. After the session I went, slept the entire break, and came back for a 52% second session. I was in college at the time, so seems about right!

I did, more recently, win one of these wide-spread at-the-club games with a 75.5% game... it paid some ungodly number of masterpoints for playing in what was (at our club) an 8 table game.
And I had a 78% game in the first session I ever played at a Regional: it was the 49'er pairs back in 1973... so I can claim to have won the first Regional event I ever played in... so long as nobody asks for details
Good friends of mine had a 256 out of 312 in a single session Sectional Pairs event: 82.05%... that's the highest I have ever seen.
Two other friends of mine won a big Regional Stratified pairs with, on a 325 top, scores of 237 and 237.5: a 73% average over two sessions.. I haven't seen a higher combined score over a 25 top event: the higher the average, the closer to average the scores cluster, in my experience.

Well, pretty quickly, I discovered that she was a whole lot better than I was. And as soon as I did, I came upon a plan. By the end of the night, it was obvious what the plan was- I'd bid new suit forcing until P bid no-trump, then raise to 3 as often as possible. My partner said nothing to me, but as we were tallying up the last board, she shouted,
"Three No Trump! Three No Trump! All you ever say is Three No Trump!"
And stormed out of the building.
When the totals were taken, it turned out we'd had a 73% game.
Since then, I've had higher scores, but was my first 'high' score.

One pair in a game in which I played had a 12.5% game, the lowest I've ever seen. Thus, "The Field" had an 87.5% game against that pair.

For a full session my best was 75% at a club in Maryland with a pickup partner. I've been in the low 70s a number of times in various clubs with various partners (including a STAC once). Sam and I recently had a 72% in a regional open pairs, which is my best result in a "real" tournament.

Also log ago on a Simultaneous, a guy who would be rated as intermediate won the worldwide simultaneous with something close to 90%. I guess the organizators didn't know he was the guy to record all the scores and send them

Definitely true, I did achieve the second best Worldwide Sim score in the United States last summer by accidently stumbling into a club where my partner and I were the only life masters. We were dealt 78%, but decided to graciously give back 6% of the matchpoints to "the field".
Besides this, my best in a regional flight A separate came this year in Cromwell, where Joseph Byrnes and I racked up a 450.26 on a 650 top (69.81%). This was our second session together.

In a 5 table Mitchell I once scored 74%. The runners up in our direction scored 69%, leaving an average 35.67% for the remaining three pairs.

On a positive side, I've never had a session under 32%.
