If the spots indicate QJx with LHO, you can try running 10 and drive out A. Then disc 2 clubs on the diamonds and play twice towards the hand.

If you can't figure out if LHO has QJx or QJxx, fluffy's line seems ok.

problem with my line is QJxxx, wich will lose 2 even if the A is onside. I will be in time after that start, but will need to guess early.

I wouldn't worry about QJx, if you can discard 2 clubs, I would bet LHO didn't lead beause he has the ace, so you will lose 2 instead of just 1+1

Draw trumps then play on diamonds.

I'd "run" the 10 at trick 2 (I think that's the best way to get LHO to duck his A)

You have timing issues if you start trump.

Let's say they win an early round and lead a : you need to return to hand in trump, play the 10 and, when it is not covered, get back to dummy with your last trump. Now, even if trump behave, you will end up playing s out of your hand at some point...even if the s are QJx onside.

So get the 10 out of the way, and decide what to do next based on what you see... the opps will generally be giving honest carding this early in the defence.

You may decide to play on s, intending to try to ruff one in dummy, while pitching a on the A, assuming it stands up... or you may decide to cash the A, pitching a and then use trump entries to lead towards the s twice: either line is better than playing on trump early
