This depends a lot on whether you like to gamble

I don't think that there is a snowball's chance in hell that can make 4. Accordingly, a 3 bid seems pretty clear. What's the best hand that partner could table?

Even with tabling this, game isn't cold... (I'm expecting bad breaks in and )

The only reason that I'd consider any other bid is if I think that LHO is suicidal. In theory, if I bid 4 LHO might oblige me by bidding 4 which I can then whack. Even so, I'm strongly in favor of passing...

3. It's MP, so a major is preferable. I'd rather be in an 8-9 card fit than a possible 7 card fit. I won't bid any higher because almost all my values are in the opponent's suits. And I'm not bidding 3NT becaue even though I have both his suits stopped, I doubt I'll be able to run our tricks before he's able to establish one of them; there's a good chance the opponents have a 9-card fit in one of the blacks (, I'm guessing, because North could have bid 3 with four of them).

I have a pile of rubbish with strength in their suits.
If game is making, partner will bid it.
3H and hope it makes.

Agree with above. This is not close I have KQx in both of LHO suits. 3 is obvious.

I guess this was a bad post, as 3 seems unanimous. (3NT is silly imo)

I passed at the table, figuring if pard has 5+ quality diamonds as a PH then his hearts are not too good and 3 may actually be better here. I was right, but the replies and thinking about it make me think I should have bid 3.

3 is indeed obvious. Since you have a Fit NON-jump, it may just be a good 4 card suit. You definetly don't have the values for 4.
