playing BAM you pick up KJT98xx -- -- AQJ9xx. You open 1S, 3D on your left surprisingly passed back to you. Your bid?

4 only clubs. Misfit alert. Something strange is going on here and I don't want to be caught in the crossfire. If partner shows some signs of life, I will reevaluate then. In the meantime, I'm not going to go overboard on this, although I don't expect to pick up this hand again... ever.

5♣. Obviously with my luck this will lead to one off, but it seems like a reasonable call. I don't think I want to be passed in 4♣, or bid 4♠ and miss a club slam.

I tend to agree with Adam that 4♣ is not enough but in order not to bypass 4♠ I would try 4♦ and if partner bid ♥, I'd bid 4♠ suggesting ♠ and ♣

I kind of like the 4D-4H-4S plan, but a problem I see with that is that partner with 1 spade and 3 clubs will correct to 5C (and you'll want to be in spades at BAM).

You are still not playing MisIry Justin?
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

hello everyone
Joker-gib is 'almost' on my wavelength. I suggest that partner should read me for 6S and 5C if I pull 1S-(3D)-p-p-4D-4H back to spades. If you did not want to play hearts, why offer partner a choice and later pull. If you were only S/C hand why didn't you just bid 1S-(3D)-p-p-4C(5C?)
I would like to discuss it first, howeve, it just seems like a good idea. It does not handle 7-6 hands exactly, however, it does handle the 6-5 hands(and hopefully copes with 7-6)
I am adding the basic idea it to my system notes.
Giving up on that six(seven/) card major to play in a 5 card club suit just seems wrong.
Hi Jlall I think that partner with one spade and 3 clubs might strongly consider playing 4S 'if' you have shown a six bagger. Using the 4D cuebid should 'wake' partner up to the idea that something strange is going on.
If you had a weak six card spade suit, I would simply bid 4C with 5(+) clubs. His 1S and 3C hand should now correct.
Partner might be drooling while 'waiting with bated breath' for a reopening double. He might pick a trump suit while silenting listing the other times that you have 'misheard' the auction.
Regards,
Robert

5♣ looks the proper bid if we wanna find slam, but BAM can tell us that 4♠ is our best possible contract.
I'll try 5♣, just ecause don't wanna break my brain on next round if partner happens to bid 4♠.

At the table I don't know why but I bid 4C. I suffered the embarassment of playing 4C on this hand (pard had 2 spades, 4 clubs to the ten and the HA and DK). All was well since we won the board (our counterparts got to 6).

Anyway I don't think this is a MisIry hand, I don't think the system copes wll with 2 voids, specially when partner grabs both red aces
