OK...so anyways. Ben, are you still up to moderating it? Pigpenz, Phil, and I have all volunteered to keep score, so just pick one of us and let's resume it. I really thought it was a great idea and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

seems like it wouldnt be too hard to make it that there would be radio buttons for everyone to vote on each problem and then somehow give scoring at the end of a week or month. eveyone could see the running vote totals just like we see when we make up own polls.

Great Justin, I would love the master solvers to come back.

I believe the main reason that Elianna stopped was that there were too many complaints about what was done with the scores. Perhaps now that it has been gone for a while, we all realize how much fun it was and be more respectful to the people who make it possible. (this is not at all directed at anyone in particular)

ITA -- if Justin agrees to keep score - for goodness sake ALL of us folk who parcipitate should NOT complain on whatever scoring Justin decides to do -- UNLESS you are prepared to take the job (and the complaints) on

Believe me I LOVE trying to get a good 'score' but will participate whatever the scoring method is -- just for the fun of it

The problem with that is it may influence the voting. It shouldn't but I'm sure it would.

back in the 70,s i used to get to vote for master solvers in Bridge
World we would receive about six months at a time, that is how they came up with a % for the subscribers and then there was the panel I dont know how they come up with the actual scores if the director is ifluenced by the expert or his own biases.

We could get is set up so that we had maybe 10-20 experts who would send us their votes in advance of public realese of the hands and have it set up so that when you viewed and voted it would assign you the score. The it could do the scoring also. Just an Idea

I am sure with all of your bridge conncections JLall you could come up with an expert panel :(

I liked it last time. Let Ben just make up some scores depending on the panel's bids and the general idea of the problem. Besides, the discussion was far more interesting than the actual scores.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Ok.. new one going to go out soon.. need one more hand. I think Justin has enough to do being on the panel. So that leaves Pig and phil. I remember someone having an message forwarded to me, and pig says it was him, so we will try pig. So the actual hands will posted towards the end of this week, to give the panelist time to look at them first.

Damn I was away and missed a good fight. As far as BPO is concerned I found that isn't set up for the average joe. Early on I think I made some suggestions in the line of how things would work better for me - but the whole set-up just turned out to be burdensome for me to follow and I did what Elianna did - chose to walk. No problem - I think I could really enjoy BPO in a different format but if others are happy with the way things are - that's cool. I conclude my comments with one hope - that Whereagles is not doing work in any human relations field. And as a scientist one should look at the evidence presented on these pages - it clearly demonstrates that criticism is destructive. And if we criticize Whereagles - are we any better?

Not all criticism is destructive. If I declared that the square root of 2 is 1, I should be soundly criticized.

Criticism without taking time to investigate the situation is the destructive part.

I didn't make any destructive criticism. On the contrary, I even gave suggestions on how to improve the scoring. I believe I did so in a polite and mannerly way, and I peacefully accepted the rejection of my suggestions.

But some people, who probably are not used to being criticized, took offense in what I said and went the easy way, accusing me of creating trouble.

If the majority view in the BPO is not mine, I really like to think about changing my "understanding" to appreciate the sense of the view of my peers and others with more comprehension.

Concerning any slights, intended or otherwise, I extend my apologies and condolences (where appropriate) and refer you to the above paragraph ;)

If that is addressed at me, then where did I accuse you of creating trouble? Please show an exact quote.

What I DID say, is that I have DONE much of what you suggested, and gave links to those places. Your reply was that you don't have the time to see those links. I also explained why I refused to do some of the other stuff, and gave links to those discussions, which you also refused to look at.

Accusing me of being easily offended when you seem unable to understand my real objections is extremely self-serving.

I am not offended by criticism in and of itself. (I have posted that, and so don't understand why you keep thinking that was my problem.) But I do not understand why you seem to think that I should not be allowed to reply to the criticism in a direct way, and why you do seem to have enough time to continue this argument, and not enough time to read what you are arguing about.

Yes... you are doing the scoring.. If you wish to participate in the polls as well, I will send you the hands before hand, and you must submit your answers to me prior to my posting them. This way you can play too...

Elianna, there is obviously some misunderstanding between us. I'm not going to argue anymore about it, so let's agree to disagree.
