Hmm - interesting. If I transfer to hearts, I have exclusion available. If I bid Stayman and partner has a 4 card major, I will also have exclusion available. But if I end up having to use Smolen, I might not end up with exclusion available. On the other hand, it's not clear exclusion is that useful given partner has a diamond stopper, and I could really want to know about the ♠Q.

I guess I go with 3♣. I am definitely making a slam try above 4M.

At first sight I imagined the hand shown must be the 2NT wild side Nothing in our regulations against that, although most opponents and some TDs would get their knickers in a twist. I have not taken the plunge with a void yet, but on Fridays who knows.

We go through our majors ask with 5M4M, although it's not well suited to such a wide ranging 2NT and we will miss a clubs fit too.

If partner keeps rejecting me by bidding 4NT, I am probably worth a 4th chance (5NT?). The worst hand such as Jxx Kx AQJxx Axx will know to stay low.

I would not use Smolen and Walk on the Wild Side in the same sentence, but keep going.

Cowboy Junkies! Great band. Seen them twice and have all of their albums. Yes, I still listen to albums, in both vinyl and cd form, the latter stored on a digital streamer/source.

I agree with your plan but I’m not worried about your example hand. Imo, it’s a mistake to overcall 2N with that hand. It’s not worth it’s 15 hcp since your main and strongest suit rates to play for just 2 tricks. And if we can make game with that hand, partner isn’t passing 2D out. With that hand the interesting problem isn’t over 2D (pass seems clearly best) but what to do if partner reopens with a double. Yes, we are favourite to score 500 or 800 but partner is virtually unlimited and slam may well be good simply on power.

Yes, yes. I do play that style of Puppet - IIRC it is a treatment introduced by Justin Lall.

Yes, great Canadian band. I see they are touring the USA, I hope they have some dates in Canada soon.
